In addition to ex-White House staffer and cherry sweater style legend, The View cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin added another title to her growing list of hyphenates on today’s show: TV director.
After cohost Joy Behar missed her cue during her 81st birthday celebration episode, Griffin could be heard coaching her fellow panelist.
When the show returned from a commercial break for the second portion of a two-part interview with Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway, Behar was seemingly preoccupied by an off-camera conversation, until Griffin jumped in: “We’re on air,” the conservative cohost said.
Behar then turned to the camera and smiled. “Hello,” she said. “We’re back with the lovely Anne Hathaway!”
The episode proceeded as normal, though Behar also kicked off the birthday edition with a few comical gripes about her special day.
Earlier this year, Behar also missed her cue to walk out and start the show, as all of the other cohosts stepped to the table without her. In her absence, the camera focused on empty space on the stage, until she finally shuffled into frame.
“Wow, I almost didn’t make it today,” she joked. “In 26 years, that’s the latest I’ve ever been!”
She continued: “I was a little bit behind schedule today, because, you know, you’re primping!”
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET.
