Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Amy Downden made a return to the glitzy BBC one show on Saturday night (October 7) and fans were left over the moon to see her face
Strictly Come Dancing star has Amy Dowden made a return to the live shows for the first time since her cancer diagnosis.
The glitzy BBC One show returned for another instalment on Saturday night (October 7) with the latest celebs taking to the dance floor. And during the latest episode, pro dancer Amy appeared to give viewers a rundown of how to vote.
Speaking to Claudia, Amy’s co-stars cheered her name as she revealed how she was doing. She said: “I’m doing really well! I’m over halfway through treatment through chemo and I cannot wait to be back with you all permanently.”
Fans watching the emotional scene were over the moon to see Amy make an appearance. Over on X, formerly know as Twitter, one person said: “Aw yay Amy so happy to see you.”
Echoing their thoughts, someone else gushed: “What a gorgeous surprise to see Amy on tonight’s Strictly.” A third quipped: “Seeing Amy is going to be the best bit of the night as far as I’m concerned.”
The professional dancer, 33, announced in May that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer just one day before jetting off on her honeymoon. It meant that she has been forced to pull out of taking part in this year’s series of the BBC dancing show.
Amy was also made to undergo a mastectomy a month later in June. But the horror was not over for the dancing professional, as doctors had discovered another form of cancer elsewhere in her body.
She started having chemotherapy treatment in order to kill off the cancer. She also recently made the heart-breaking decision to shave her hair to stop the cancer from taking it from her.
However in a recent horrific health update, Amy admitted to her loyal fans that she nearly lost her life whilst fighting the disease. This was due to complications with her after a round of chemotherapy.

Talking to The Mirror, Amy elaborated: “After both my first cycles I developed the life-threatening side-effects that can come with chemo, so I had it all in the first month. I had a temperature and didn’t realise the severity of having a temperature.”
She continued that she had collapsed after feeling warm – adding that her mother was told to “phone an ambulance immediately” to get the help Amy needed. Amy – having developed an infection – went into septic shock, with her blood pressure so low, her organs would not be able to function.”
