Christian J. LeBlanc revealed he has been fighting cancer.
The Young and the Restless actor made the shocking announcement during a recent appearance on WWL-TV.
“There was a tumor right here,” he said, pointing to his brow, “pressing on my optic nerve.”
LeBlanc said that while he did notice some out of the ordinary things happening while on set – nosebleeds and his character’s ring falling off his finger – he didn’t pay much attention until fans pointed out his “wonky” eye.
“The fans caught it,” the 65-year-old said. “I was getting people [saying], like, ‘Your eye is a little Jim Carrey[-esque] that way.’”
After a trip to a neurological ophthalmologist, who discovered a tumor in his sinus cavitiy, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and began treatment immediately.
“I’d never spent a day in the hospital in my 65 years until this year.”
As LeBlanc noted, multiple myeloma is a “very common cancer,” so while it is a “very fast cancer,” it is also heavily researched giving him and others a promising prognosis.
“It is such a well researched cancer and they have made so many huge steps with taking the pain out of chemo and making more constructive immunotherapies.”
Despite being diagnosed with cancer in June, LeBlanc is already in remission and plans for his character to return to The Young and the Restless in time for the Thanksgiving episode.
