Target roasted after customers expose Black Friday ‘deals’

Target customers have been left ‘confused’ by some of the store’s so-called Black Friday deals.

While a lot of people will do the majority of their holiday shopping online to snag the best deals for gifts, some still go into physical stores to browse what deals have been put on.

And it’s lucky they do as some shoppers have spotted something a bit fishy…

On Target‘s social media pages, it was advertising offers in stores such as 30 percent off clothing, 25 percent off some beauty and health care sets – but the deals might not be as good as they seem.

TikToker @djdowneygirl shared a video to the platform yesterday (25 November) and it’s already generated a staggering 25 million views.

In the clip, the woman is seen browsing her local Target when she spots some TVs on sale as part of Black Friday.

But, when she looks at the sign, she pulls out the previous sale sign that was there before Black Friday – and it’s the same price.

“I’m confused,” she says to the camera.

Another video shows someone looking at an item of clothing in the Black Friday sale to discover the label underneath the top one was actually $5 cheaper.

@djdowneygirl later clarified in a follow-up video on her TikTok that she had went to the store ‘for some snacks’ and, after seeing similar videos, was left wondering if that truly was the case.

People have since shared their thoughts on the matter and it’s safe to say they’re not terribly happy.

“Wow that’s not a deal,” one person wrote on TikTok.

While another claimed ‘they haven’t done any actual deals in years’.

A third added: “I found one where the regular price was lower then black Friday deal.”

Elsewhere, former retail workers tried to explain a possible reason.

“Makes it easier the next day.” one person said.

Another commenter wrote: “i worked at a target. i was lazy. hope this helps.”

“I currently work retail and we are told to have the original tags behind. When the sale is over, there is a list to take the tags off.” a third said.

And a fourth said: “We didn’t take down the original price sign because it’s just easier to put back up after Black Friday.”

However, some were quick to point out in @djdowneygirl’s vid that tag underneath still indicated that it was for sale.

“That’s the sales price that continues PAST black Friday. the tag in front is just for BLACK FRIDAY that’s why it’s black.” someone wrote.

UNILAD have contacted Target for comment.
