Bruce Willis’ daughter has shared a touching video with her dad as he celebrated Thanksgiving with his family last week.
The Die Hard star, 68, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia back in February this year and subsequently retired from acting due to his health.
FTD impacts the lobes of the brain behind the forehead and can cause symptoms such as personality changes, obsessive behavior and speaking difficulties.
Bruce’s partner, Emma Heming Willis, has been caring for him since his diagnosis, and over recent months, she and some of his children have been posting regularly on social media to give fans updates about his condition.
As the family gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday (November 23) Bruce’s daughter Scout – whom he shares with ex Demi Moore – offered fans a sweet glimpse into a touching moment with her father.
Captioning the video ‘my guy’, the 32-year-old could be seen reaching her hand out to Bruce as he held on tightly, prompting a beaming smile from his daughter.
The heartwarming clip was re-posted to a fan account on Instagram, where fans were quick to share their love and praise.
“If you cannot take the bad with the good you don’t deserve that person at all. I think it’s good to share life’s struggles, we are all human, and all experience them. This sharing makes you relatable and more helpful to others. Nothing but love,” wrote one person.
“Such an amazing man. Thanks for sharing him with his fans. Hard to believe I won’t see any more new movies with him as the star,” penned another.
While a third added: “Never stop holding hands! This so reminds me of my husband. I wanted to hold his hand forever, but CTE and early-onset Alzheimer’s got the best of him. Hold on tight to that hand.”
Bruce’s partner Emma also shared a poignant Instagram post on Thanksgiving, writing: “I’m grateful and thankful to know this kind of love 🤍🧡 Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🧡,” alongside a snap of the family together.
It comes just days after Bruce’s eldest daughter, Rumer, 35, took to Instagram to share an emotional throwback post about her dad.
Featuring a picture of a younger Bruce smiling while holding Rumer as a baby, she posted the image alongside the caption: “Really missing my papa today.”
Fans piled into the comments to share their own stories and offer their sympathy and support to Rumer and her family.
One wrote: “I understand what you mean. I have a case of dementia in the family, and unfortunately, it’s already quite advanced.
“It’s tough, especially since it involves your dad. He was my hero in my childhood. Still is.”
Another replied: “I miss my brother… 47 with dementia and he’s sat right next to me.”
