Mom criticized for daughter’s ‘stupid name’ after asking for help over her being bullied

The mom asked for help on Reddit over her daughter’s name, but found that people were less than sympathetic when they found out what it was

A mom has been slammed online after asking people for help over her daughter being bullied.

Choosing a name for a child is one of the most important steps, and while some parents opt for a more traditional name, others take a different approach.

While wanting to pick an unusual name for a child might be desirable for some parents, it’s also important to remember that the child is going to have to live with that name, unless they change it themselves.

Just tell it to all the Game of Thrones fans who decided to call their daughters ‘Khaleesi’ or ‘Daenerys’ before seeing how the TV series ended. Awkward.

One mom revealed that her choice of name for her daughter had been leading to some issues for her at school.

She took to social media to see if she could get some advice on what to do in the awkward situation.

And let’s just say that people did not mince their words around who they thought was at fault here.

The mom revealed the name that she had chosen for her daughter, and people quickly pointed out that her decision had created the problem.

In a post to Reddit she wrote: “My seven year old’s name is Blayzee and recently she’s been coming home from school and saying kids are making fun of her name.

“She even said her best friend said her mum must have been young when I named her.”

While people of course had sympathy for the daughter herself over the incident, they pointed the finger firmly at mom with what had caused the situation.

One wrote: “It’s terrible when kids are teased. As a mum you need to own your mistake.”

Another did not mince their words, writing: “Gee, it’s almost like inflicting your objectively horrible ‘unique’ name on your kid because YOU want attention for it is bad for the child!”

A third even recommended that she allow her child to pick a name which she felt suited her better, posting: “It’s an awful name, so you need to allow your child to choose a real name now.”

One person was slightly more tactful in how they broached the topic and tried to meet the mom halfway, but certainly did not hold back either.

They wrote: “I understand not wanting to name ur kid a generic ‘top 10 most popular girls names of 2024’ name, but that’s just terrible.”
