Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match has been postponed indefinitely

Netflix has confirmed the fight will not go ahead in July as planned

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s highly anticipated boxing match will not be going ahead on July 20 as originally planned.

Netflix announced the news in a statement, confirming the fight will be postponed indefinitely due to Mike Tyson’s recent medical issue.

The streaming service, which is broadcasting the spectacle, said: “Unfortunately Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will not face-off on July 20 as planned. Tyson’s recent ulcer flare up has limited his ability to train fully for the next few weeks.”

“The fight will be rescheduled for a date later this year after Mike’s able to resume training with no limitations and both fighters can have equal time to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup!”

“Stay tuned for the new fight date to be announced by the end of next week http://tudum.com/paulvstyson.”

The boxing legend, 57, had suffered a medical emergency while he was on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles last Saturday.

He experienced an ulcer flare-up and began feeling nauseous when the flight was 30 minutes from landing in LA.

His representatives subsequently released a statement to ESPN confirming the athlete was ‘doing great’ after the scare and that he was “appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him”.

Tyson had even come out swinging himself in the days that followed, posting on X: “Now feeling 100% even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.”

His opponent was equally combative towards rumors the fight would be called off, tweeting on Monday: “You love to make s**t up before knowing the facts for clicks / likes. Nothing changed #PaulTyson.”

Unfortunately, this proved to be famous last words.

Both camps have released statements on the postponement, alongside MVP, Jake Paul’s promotion company.

Mike Tyson expressed his gratitude to his fans for their patience: “I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.”

“My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.”

“I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”

Meanwhile Jake Paul had this to say: “I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night.

“My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.

“Paul vs Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to bring my best for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup.”

Finally, MVP offered up a bit more context for how the decision was made: “The upcoming highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will unfortunately be postponed.”

“During a follow up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations.”

“Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level.”

“The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself.”
