The freelancer took to TikTok to share to mortifying ordeal
A woman was left mortified after taking a sick day to catch a flight only to find her boss on the same plane.
There are many wild stories about people ‘pulling a sickie’ when they’re not actually ill – though this particular one is enough to make anyone cringe.
Grace, who goes by the name of @grachevaaleidya on TikTok, took to the popular video platform to share the rather awkward story of how she bumped into her manager on a flight.
While that would be no problem on any other day, Grace had called in sick on this occasion.
“Me taking a sick day from work only to end up on the same plane as my manager,” the TikToker wrote over the now-viral video.

In the short clip, a shocked Grace looks into the camera before cutting to a screenshot of blurred messages exchanged between her and her boss.
As per Newsweek, Grace, who works as a freelancer, splits her time between Europe and her hometown of Bali in Indonesia.
On the day of her flight Grace informed her employers that she had a doctor’s appointment so couldn’t work, but she was instead returning home.

Grace recalled the awkward moment her manager spotted while boarding the flight.
“Long story short, I was waiting in the line and then I saw a familiar face coming to me which called my name,” she said.
There was always a chance Grace could bump into her manager as she noted he often visits Bali.
When the manager noticed Grace on the flight, he sarcastically asked: “Oh, so this is a hospital?”
Utterly mortifying.
However, it didn’t end all too bad as Grace explained that the pair ended up ‘laughing together’.
“We ended up talking all the way to the airplane and while we’re inside, he took that picture and sent it to me,” she told Newsweek.
Many have flocked to the comments section of the TikTok video to share their thoughts.
“I’d cry like a baby and give my resignation letter,” one user wrote.
A second added: “I thought it was bad when my manager phoned, bc I texted her I was sick. I had to answer the phone while at the airport. There was announcements like boarding at gate number.. In the background.”
While a third remarked: “I had this happen in college.. was planning to be ‘ill’ to get out of homework. Ended up on the plane to Turkey with my teacher.”
