A diagram has revealed what could’ve happened had Donald Trump not ‘moved his head’ slightly at the Pennsylvanian rally
A diagram has revealed what could’ve happened if Donald Trump hadn’t turned his head slightly at the Pennsylvanian rally.
On Saturday (13 July), the former president of the US was rushed off stage mid-speech at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania after gunshots rang out – one bullet hitting Trump in the ‘upper part’ of his right ear.
And an image has since revealed just how different the situation may’ve been for Trump had he not ‘moved his head’ slightly at that specific moment.
Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social shortly after the incident with his recollection of events.
He wrote: “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realised then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
However, Trump may’ve not been around to ‘bless’ America any longer had he not ‘moved his head’ at the very last minute before the shots were fired, a rally attendee named Vanessa told NBC News.
She recalled: “He was talking about his chart and he moved his head to the right to explain where they’re at in the chart. But as he moved his head to look at the chart up on the screen that’s when he got grazed in the ear.”
And a diagram has since revealed just how much of a near-miss it really was.

Shared to Twitter by a user called Sovereign Brah, the image shows two heads with their brains visible.
The lower image shows the pathway of a bullet whizzing past the head titled ‘With Trump’s head movement’ – the bullet grazing the top of the right ear.
The upper image shows what would’ve happened ‘Without Trump’s head movement’ and shows the bullet’s pathway going into the top right of the head and through the brain too.
It’s important to note the diagram isn’t a forensic reconstruction and so it’s unknown exactly what difference the movement made, however, Trump is still thanking ‘luck or God’ for him moving his head slightly at that exact moment.
Trump told conservative US media, as quoted by The Telegraph: “That reality is just setting in. The most incredible thing was that I happened to not only turn [my head] but to turn at the exact right time and in just the right amount.
“I’m supposed to be dead, I’m not supposed to be here.”
