Ingrid Andress performed the national anthem at the MLB on Monday
Performing the national anthem is no mean feat, though Ingrid Andress’ rendition of it has certainly sparked debate.
The country singer performed the US anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas on Monday (15 July).
And after watching the performance, much of the audience agrees that she didn’t quite hit the right notes.
Andress took a rather traditional take on the opening lines, though as the anthem progressed, the singer certainly struggles to know it out of the park.
Her delivery of ‘What so proudly we hailed’ in particular is a little strained, so she quickly transitions to the next part of the song.

While many on the internet agree that is marginally better, many viewers were still not impressed.
Andress’ take on the high notes in the song prove to be not on pitch, so she certainly tames it down as she approaches the ‘O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave’ bit.
Many eagle-eyed viewers who watched the game on ESPN spotted Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm stifle a smile.
Many have flocked to Twitter to discuss Andress’ performance, with many not being so kind on her.
“This is the worst national anthem in like… years,” one person commented.
“Ingrid Andress giving Fergie a run for worst national anthem ever performed,” a second added.
“That Ingrid Andress national anthem might have been the worst thing to happen in America in the last 48 hours,” a third remarked.
Not everyone was so harsh on the singer, however, with some actually feeling sorry for her following the national anthem display.

One person wrote: “I’ve seen Ingrid Andress perform live before at Lollapalooza and she was great. Not sure what happened tonight but I feel really bad for her because that was not great.”
While another quipped: “I now feel bad for her… must’ve been nervous.”
Before performing the national anthem, Andress took to social media to share a passionate social media message.
She wrote: “Greetings to everyone that has a pulse. I truly love you all so much. I’ve been absent for a minute, but I’m so stoked to announce that my new single ‘Colorado 9’ comes out on July 24th, pre-save it now (link in bio).
“Thank you for being here for me even though I’ve been living under a rock. Y’all are the best, and I can’t wait to see you at my shows (stay tuned for more show announcements soon).”
