50 Cent’s 2005 hit ‘Candy Shop’ is – apparently shockingly to some – nothing about candy
Prepare to rethink the next time you hear 50 Cent’s chart-topper come onto the radio and you start humming along.
50 Cent may’ve released ‘Candy Shop’ all the way back in 2005, but people have been bopping along to the tune ever since.
However, as you nod your head along to the song the next time it pops onto the radio, you may want to pay attention to what the lyrics actually are and mean.
If you hadn’t realized already, a lot of music has a different meaning to what it supposedly says on the tin and that’s especially when it comes to rap music – shock.
But some social media users are only just thinking more deeply about 50 Cent’s hit, clocking just because the title of the track is ‘Candy Shop’ he might not, in fact, be talking about an experience walking into a store full of chocolates and sweets.
TikTok user Debi – who goes by the username @dibdabx – has made a name for herself on the social media app for reacting to the real meanings behind some cryptic songs.
And this week, the TikTok star listened to 50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’, and was unable to hold back her shock after realising the song may actually be about receiving… Well, to put it lightly, fellatio.

Is there a more sophisticated way of writing that? Asking for a friend…
Anyway, in the viral video – captioned “Listening to ‘Candy Shop’ by 50 Cent now I’m not a child” – Debi’s jaw drops when she listens carefully to the first few lines of the chorus.
“I’ll take you to the candy shop. I’ll let you lick the lollipop. Go ahead, girl, don’t you stop. Keep going until you hit the spot.”
I mean, how didn’t we pick up on this sooner? It’s so obvious!
“Why have I never noticed this?!” Debi asks viewers. “Calm down sir.
“They’re both going for it,” she says after listening to the female artist’s lines. “Childhood ruined.”
While on the topic of ruined childhoods, a clip from the 1940 hit cartoon Tom and Jerry has left viewers reeling after realising the hidden meaning behind an extremely dark resurfaced episode.
The heartbreaking clip – which has been trending on social media for the last few weeks – shows three drowned kittens being taken to heaven, and is almost guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye.
The popular Twitter account @historyinmemes posted the tragic clip yesterday, which shows pussycat Tom temporarily visiting the gates of heaven, having sustained an injury during a lighthearted play fight with mouse Jerry.
A line-up of cats begin entering the gates and boarding a train – the ‘Heavenly Express’ – after seemingly being killed on Earth.

The train conductor – a cat himself – then appears to be assessing a moving sack, which is tied at the top with a piece of string, before three gorgeous kittens emerge, splashing some water out of the bag, implying they’d been purposefully drowned.
Leaving fans literally wiping away their tears, the video’s caption explained: “We were too young to understand this. The golden escalator of Heaven takes Tom’s soul up into the sky to the golden gates of the railroad station where the ‘Heavenly Express’ train is waiting that carries the souls of cats to heaven.”
“As a child I never understood this scene with the bag. Seeing it now again as a man it just gut checked me. Fuq, I need to hug my dog and cats for a bit,” one viewer wrote.
Another admitted: “I also hugged my cat after watching this.”
