Parents were left in complete shock after ‘son who’d been dead for six months’ rang them up

This completely bizarre story occurred in New Zealand

A mum and dad in New Zealand were left gobsmacked when their son gave them a phone call – only because they thought he was ‘dead’.

Now tales of sibling rivalry and family drama isn’t anything new, with most people who have a brother or sister ending up in their fair share of scraps growing up.

However, how far would you be willing to take a fight with your sibling?

For one man living in New Zealand, a row between his sister and parents ended up with him being falsely presumed as dead.

The 2023 clip, with has since being doing the rounds on social media, saw a man named Callum call into local station ZM Radio to tell his tale – which left hosts Carl Fletcher, Vaughan Smith and Hayley Sproull with their jaws on the floor.

Callum explained that he’d been living in Wellington at the time of the incident, around 270 miles away from his parents’ home in Christchurch.

Following a fall out between his older sister and their parents, she rang up their mum and dad to tell them the news that no parent would ever want to hear – that their son had been killed and his funeral had already taken place.

Opening up about the story on air, he said: “My sisters were in a bit of a tiff with my parents at the time and they weren’t really getting along.

“My older sister actually called my parents up and told them that I had died.”

And if you thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse than that – you would be wrong.

Host Vaughan said: “No offence.Your sister sounds like a top level, red flag, crazy b**ch!”

Keen to ask for some very much needed context, the hosts asked why he was out of touch with his parents for six months.

Callum explained: “I was just busy with life and work and then I was like wait – I haven’t heard from my parents in a while, I wonder what’s going on?

“And I gave them a call up, and my mum and dad were like ‘you’re alive?’

“My mum was absolutely in tears and my dad was just kind of gobsmacked – he was just like ‘what the f**k is going on?’”

They then quizzed him on why his parents just took this news as gospel without any questions asked.

He responded: “They were kinda like running around calling our other family seeing if they had heard anything, from what I was told.

“Then they didn’t really know anything to go off so my parents just kind of presumed ‘yeah he died’.”

But the wickedness continued to unfold as Callum revealed that his sister had actually told her parents that he’d been stabbed to death.

Vaughan added: “Wait wait wait, you were murdered?

“You’re not dead in an accident by your own hand, someone murdered you!

“This is the wildest phone call we’ve ever had.”

It’s needless to say that the parents and his sister aren’t exactly on talking-terms anymore…and can you blame them?
