JFK’s grandson speaks out after Trump makes executive order to release classified assassination files

Jack Schlossberg has hit back at President Donald Trump for releasing his grandfather’s assassination files

President Donald Trump has taken no time at all in settling back into the Oval Office.

Since Monday (January 20), the 78-year-old has signed dozens of executive orders, including one to say that the government will only recognize two genders – a scathing attack on the LGBTQ+ community, and another ending diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

Now, the Republican has signed an order to release classified files on the assassination of JFK – something which his family is not too pleased with, with the 35th president’s grandson taking a swipe at Trump for doing so.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy, back in 1963, is one of the biggest events in modern history. JFK was gunned down in broad daylight as he rode through Dallas, Texas, becoming the subject of numerous conspiracy theories over the years.

Taking to Twitter, Jack Schlossberg wrote: “JFK conspiracy theories — The truth is a lot sadder than the myth — a tragedy that didn’t need to happen. Not part of an inevitable grand scheme.

“Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back. There’s nothing heroic about it.”

He received a barrage of abuse online for wanting to keep the files out of the public’s eye.

One user commented: “Have you reviewed the files? Have you read the documents? What puts you in position to know what is being declassified and released, if anything?”

To which Schlossberg replied: “I know everything d***.”

While another suggested that the 32-year-old New Yorker hadn’t seen the files. They wrote: “Imagine not wanting to know how your grandfather died… how weird.”

“We already know d***,” he replied.

The final tweet that he commented on read: “JFK would absolutely be ashamed of what his kin have become.”

Schlossberg said: “Kevin Mitchell [author of the tweet he was commenting on] and many others — I’d love to speak to JFK from beyond the grave just let me know how best to reach him and then I’ll start behaving with some class per his instructions.”

Trump has previously stated that he was going to unbox classified government papers on the assassination, while appearing as a guest on Joe Rogan‘s podcast back in November.

Trump told Rogan: “I did partially open [it]. I think I’ve opened 50 percent but I was asked not to do it, and I thought that was a reasonable ask. But now I’m going to do it I’m going to do it very soon there’s a lot of interest in it.”

Trump said that due to the case documents involving people who are still alive, ‘you tend not to do it’ when it comes to releasing classified documents.
