A nurse took to social media to show what she looked after finishing her shift, and many people were left horrified
A video of nurses before and after a 12-hour shift has been going viral and people have been left very concerned.
It’s no secret that nursing is one of more stressful jobs out there, and how someone looked after her shift certainly emphasised that.
Things have only gotten worse as 100,000 people have left the nursing profession in the US since 2020, meaning there is a shortage of staff, according to PRS Global.
Several nurses participated in the trend, but it’s clear that some of them had a rougher shift than others.
The reason that the shifts are 12 hours long rather than an eight-hour working day is because many nurses work in four days off and four days on.
Having several days off to recuperate certainly makes sense looking at how the nurses appeared after their shifts.
One of them in particular drew the attention of people online.

This was the very first person to feature in the video, who gave her name as Brittany.
But while she seemed sunny and optimistic ahead of the shift, afterwards was a different story entirely.
There’s a level of tiredness which came through, as she was clearly in need of a very good rest after the shift.
As to what might have happened on the shift to make such a big change, that’s probably best left unknown, this being a hospital.
In any case, a rest was clearly much needed and well deserved.
Many people took to the comments on Reddit to share their thoughts on how each of the nurses looked after their day at work.

Taking to social media, one person wrote: “Petition for Brittany to go on long holiday.”
Another echoed the sentiment, writing: “I ain’t built for whatever Brittney has gone though, I’m telling you that right now.”
Another questioned how medical professionals manage to keep up through such gruelling shifts, writing: “How do nurses/ doctors do it??? I get so tired after working 8 hours at my office job.”
Meanwhile, someone else described just how much working on such long shifts in a stressful job affects someone.
They commented: “Unless you have worked 12 hours hospital RN shifts you can’t fully understand it. It changes you. Especially of your 12s are overnight.”
They went on to suggest another before and after which was after a working week, writing: “A more harrowing take would be the RN at the start of their first 12 of the week and the end of their 3rd or 4th in a row.”
