href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/technology\/space\/nasa-james-webb-space-telescope-star-born-525838-20231105\">James Webb Space Telescope<\/a>\u00a0(JWST) to thank a lot of the time after it was launched in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">In just over a year since JWST was propelled into space, it has seen a lot \u2013 like\u00a0<a class=\"link_link__LDfG6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/technology\/space\/nasa-james-webb-space-telescope-star-born-525838-20231105\">a star being born 1,300 light years away from Earth<\/a>\u00a0or a\u00a0<a class=\"link_link__LDfG6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/technology\/james-webb-space-telescope-dying-star-829078-20230315\">star on the cusp of death.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Furthermore, the extremely advanced telescope has captured several high resolution images of galaxies, black holes and much more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The impressive work of the JWST doesn\u2019t stop there, as it has also made a significant contribution to the field of\u00a0<a class=\"link_link__LDfG6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/science\" Olmsted (STScI)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">TRAPPIST-1 b is Earth-like in its composition, while it\u2019s also believed to be a similar size to our planet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The latest findings have been well and truly groundbreaking, as it is the first time any light has been detected as being emitted from another planet outside of our solar system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">In a press release, NASA said: \u201cThe result marks an important step in determining whether planets orbiting small active stars like TRAPPIST-1 can sustain atmospheres needed to support life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cIt also bodes well for Webb\u2019s ability to characterise temperate, Earth-sized exoplanets using CNES<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Thomas Greene, an astrophysicist at NASA\u2019s Ames Research Center and lead author on the study published in the journal Nature,<em>\u00a0<\/em>added: \u201cThese observations really take advantage of Webb\u2019s mid-infrared capability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cNo previous telescopes have had the sensitivity to measure such dim mid-infrared light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Unfortunately, the planet has no atmosphere, with scientists finding out one side is in permanent darkness and the other facing its star at all times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cThere are ten times as many of these stars in the Milky Way as there are stars like the Sun, and they are twice as likely to have rocky planets as stars like the Sun,\u201d Greene added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cBut they are also very active \u00ad\u2013 they are very bright when they\u2019re
