One of the best-known country songs of all time was written decades ago. Many of the younger generation would be unfamiliar with the song if it weren\u2019t for the fact that their favorite singers recognize how well the song was done and have taken it upon themselves to redo it.<\/p>\n

This includes Beyonc\u00e9, who may be known for her pop music but recently, she is also known for her ability to sing any type of song. This includes country music, and her fans were thrilled to hear her singing it and even writing some new country songs.<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9 puts her own fiery spin on \u201cJolene,\u201d changing the lyrics and the overall tone of the original song.<\/p>\n

Where Parton begs and pleads with a woman not to steal her man, Bey sends warning shots to a suitor: \u201cI can easily understand why you\u2019re attracted to my man \/ But you don\u2019t want this smoke, so shoot your shot for someone else.\u201d She continues by making her vengeance more explicit, singing, \u201cI had to have this talk with you \u2019cause I hate to have to act the fool \/ Your peace depends on how you move, Jolene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parton referenced the \u201cJolene\u201d cover on Wednesday night, posting an image of the album\u2019s tracklist to her Instagram stories and writing, \u201cPlay the original while you wait for @beyonce\u2019s \u2018Jolene.\u2019\u201d On Thursday, she posted a throwback photo of her to her grid, captioning the pic \u201cJust call me Dolly P\u201d and using Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d as the attached sound.<\/p>\n

\u201cJolene\u201d is one of two notable covers on \u201cCowboy Carter,\u201d as Beyonc\u00e9 duets with Tanner Adell on a rendition of the Beatles\u2019 \u201cBlackbird\u201d (entitled \u201cBlackbird\u201d). Elsewhere on the album, she folds in numerous interpolations including a reference to the Beach Boys\u2019 \u201cGood Vibrations,\u201d Nancy Sinatra\u2019s \u201cThese Boots Are Made For Walkin\u2019\u201d and purportedly Fleetwood Mac\u2019s \u201cLandslide\u201d on the Miley Cyrus duet \u201cII Most Wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCowboy Carter\u201d arrives less than two months after\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9 surprise-released her dual singles\u00a0\u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d and \u201c16 Carriages\u201d during the Super Bowl in early February.\u00a0She explained in an Instagram post that she was inspired\u00a0to create \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d after an incident where she didn\u2019t feel \u201cwelcomed,\u201d likely referring to a controversy-stirring performance alongside the Dixie Chicks (as they were then known) at the 2016 Country Music Association Awards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
