A child who was formerly known as \u2018the world\u2019s fattest boy\u2019 has undergone an incredible weight loss transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arya Permana, from West Java in\u00a0Indonesia<\/a>, weighed 190g (419lbs) when he was just nine-years-old, and is now barely recognisable.<\/p>\n

Arya took part in a weight loss programme after undergoing surgery, as well embarking upon a diet and exercise regimen.<\/p>\n

This has resulted him in\u00a0losing half of his bodyweight<\/a>, equating to some 110kg.<\/p>\n

By the time he turned 14-years-old, he was unrecognisable from his old self.<\/p>\n

Prior to this, he would\u00a0eat<\/a>\u00a0five meals a day, which themselves were enough food for two adult-sized plates.<\/p>\n

He also struggled with day-to-day activities such as washing, instead needing to be washed in a purpose-built pool outside.<\/p>\n

Arya\u2019s mom Rokayah revealed that his weight had begun to get out of control when he was about eight-years-old.<\/p>\n

She told the\u00a0BBC<\/a> how he would \u2018get angry and cry and cry\u2019 if he didn\u2019t get the food he wanted.<\/p>\n

This might include noodles, meatball soup, and porridge.<\/p>\n

At nine-years-old he could no longer walk to\u00a0school<\/a>\u00a0and by the time he was 10, he couldn\u2019t even leave the house.<\/p>\n

His mom put him on a weight loss diet, and he then underwent bariatric surgery.<\/p>\n

This involves the size of the stomach being reduced to help with weight loss in extreme cases.<\/p>\n

After recovering from the surgery, Arya was able to properly start his weight loss regimen.<\/p>\n

He was helped in this by professional bodybuilder Ade Rai, who became one of his biggest supporters.<\/p>\n

Rai told the Jakarta Post: \u201cI only support him. He likes\u00a0sports<\/a>. When he was still very fat he liked soccer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kind of support that I can give him is to share with his parents about the importance of keeping to a good diet and their motivation to support Arya.<\/p>\n

\u201cArya is now a symbol of hope. People now say: \u2018Even Arya can lose weight, so why can\u2019t I?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Arya is now an active teenager who enjoys sports, including playing badminton with his friends.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a far cry from how he looked just a couple of years earlier, with Arya even posing next to a cardboard cutout of himself at his heaviest to show just how much he has changed since then.<\/p>\n
