A social media video has gone viral in which an elderly man walks off stage, refusing to participate in a dance with a drag queen while saying that he\u2019s a \u201cman of God.\u201d The video comes from the media company Participant. It was released in November of 2019. For the video, the show\u2019s producers paired three elderly men with three drag queens, telling neither group beforehand that they would be challenged to choreograph a dance routine to a Britney Spears pop song. The clip quickly went viral on Twitter, having over 3 and a half million views as of the time this article was written.<\/p>\n

As you can see in the video, one of the drag queens walks up to one of the elderly men and says, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we just pair up.\u201d The elderly man involved, Isaac, said, \u201cI\u2019m not into touching, ok? No touching.\u201d The drag queen then said, as they began practicing the dance routine, \u201cLet\u2019s look at the gentlemen. Gentlemen, you guys can acknowledge us. Ooh, who is this?<\/em>\u201d Isaac had had enough. Interrupting the thing and walking off of the stage, he said,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m sorry, I can\u2019t do this. I\u2019m a man of God, I can\u2019t do this.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about why he refused to participate in the dance event off-stage, he said, \u201cYou know I love those people, I pray for them, I would never do anything to hurt them or condemn them. But men are not supposed to dress like women. I\u2019m not going to go along with that! It\u2019s time to stand up and be a man of God.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBased Christian Grandpa,\u201d said one Twitter user who commented on the video. Another person who commented said that he did nothing wrong, saying, \u201cHe said, \u2018I love those people, I pray for them. I would never hurt em or condemn them, but men aren\u2019t supposed to dress like women\u2019 and said sorry, sorry, sorry I can\u2019t do this and walked off. Is that what happened or am I missing something?!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Commenting on that comment, one person said, \u201cHe\u2019s a better person than I am. It\u2019s kinda like with my kids\u2026 I love them always, but I don\u2019t always like what they are doing. I can\u2019t have respect for other others who try to impose their ideologies on unsuspecting others.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Another was a bit more forward with what was wrong with the situation than even the man in the video, saying, \u201cCan you blame the old man? I wouldn\u2019t want to touch that thing under any circumstance.\u00a0\"\ud83e\udd2e\"\"\ud83e\udd2e\"<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Another noted what the point of the video was, saying, \u201cThe whole point of this was to put those older men in an uncomfortable position, and in a position where they were forced to display how they truly feel, so that there was rage fuel to use against them<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still another commenter noted that, Biblically, the man is correct, saying, \u201cHe is absolutely correct, God states plainly in the Bible that men are not to dress in women\u2019s clothes. It has been awhile since I read the verse, but I believe God was just as strongly opposed to women dressing in men\u2019s clothes. God didn\u2019t stutter did He?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

That Bible verse is Deuteronomy 22:5. It states, \u201cThe woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman\u2019s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
