As they threw their lines into the water, they talked about what they had given up to be there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For starters, the first guy said, \u201cYou have no idea what I did this weekend to be able to go fishing with you.\u201d On Saturday, I promised my wife that I would paint the whole house. The other guys nodded to show that they understood how hard it was to negotiate with their wives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But the second guy\u2019s story quickly beat out his friend\u2019s. He yelled,\u00a0<strong>\u201cThat\u2019s nothing!\u201d \u201cI promised my wife I\u2019d build her a new pool deck.\u201d Her dream trip to fish was the only way to make it come true after years of wanting it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The third guy, who was paying close attention, added his own story. He told them,\u00a0<strong>\u201cYou both have it easy!\u201d \u201cI promised my wife that I would redo the whole kitchen for her.\u201d I know it will be a lot of work, but I just had to join you guys on this fishing trip.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As they fished some more, they looked over at the fourth man who had been quiet. The boys finally gave in and asked him,\u00a0<strong>\u201cYou haven\u2019t said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend.\u201d What\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When he told his secret, the fourth guy had a sly grin on his face.\u00a0<strong>\u201cWell,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0he began,\u00a0<strong>\u201cI just set my alarm for 5:30\u201d. When the alarm went off, I turned off the clock, gave my wife a light push, and asked, \u201cFishing or S**?\u201d Do you remember what she said? \u201cPut on a sweater.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The other guys laughed out loud at how smart he was for getting away for a fishing trip.
