When you are in the public eye as a celebrity, you have to watch everything you say. Even making a statement that is seemingly well within your rights could bring backlash.<\/p>\n

Kelly Clarkson is realizing this all too well as the 41-year-old singer made the statement in a radio interview in 2018 that she spanks her children when they misbehave. That radio interview has recently resurfaced online and gone viral.<\/p>\n

\"\"She said: \u201cI\u2019m not above a spanking, which people aren\u2019t necessarily into. I don\u2019t mean hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson went on to talk about how she disciplines her daughter at times in public when necessary. She said: \u201cThat\u2019s a tricky thing when you\u2019re out in public because then people are like, they think that\u2019s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also talked about her experiences receiving physical discipline as a child. Even though it didn\u2019t sit well with her, she still feels that she is a well-rounded individual.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy parents spanked me and I did fine in life. I\u2019m from the south y\u2019all so like, we get spankings,\u201d she said. \u201cMy mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal\u2019s office and give permission for her to spank me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carson is raising her two children, River Rose (8), and Remington Alexander (6). She shares those children with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.<\/p>\n

She does admit that warning her child before disciplining her has improved her character. She said: \u201cHi, I\u2019m going to spank you on your bottom if you don\u2019t stop right now, this is ridiculous,\u2019 and honestly it\u2019s really helped.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe doesn\u2019t do that kind of stuff as often.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carson did receive some backlash over her parenting technique. Many people feel that she was stupid for bragging about how she spanks her children and are concerned that she is going to have her children taken away.<\/p>\n

Others were saying that they lost all respect for her after she admitted it.<\/p>\n

Of course, there were many opinions.<\/p>\n
