When Bruce Willis withdrew from the spotlight his fans wondered what the reason behind that decision could be. Shortly after, his family issued a statement in which they wrote the actor was diagnosed with a more specific condition; frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce\u2019s original diagnosis,\u201d his daughter Rumer Willis posted on the social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince we announced Bruce\u2019s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce\u2019s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).\u201d

When they say this is a family disease, it really is,\u201d Emma said during an appearance on the Today show for World Frontotemporal Dementia Awareness Week.<\/p>\n
On March 19, Willis celebrated his 69th birthday.
\nHowever, the family is concerned about the actor\u2019s weight loss and decreased appetite, as his condition continues to deteriorate.<\/p>\n
