She took to\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0to share her experience, explaining: \u201cSo, I applied for a job at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago and they denied my application.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey couldn\u2019t even call me, they just sent me some automated email so I went in today and was like \u2018So, what was the reason I didn\u2019t get hired?’\u201d<\/p>\n

The woman she spoke to told her that she doesn\u2019t \u2018have enough experience\u2019, and that there were other applicants who had more.<\/p>\n

Ash thinks it was because of her tattoos. She has many visible tattoos, including on her neck, face, and arms \u2013\u00a0something which some employers aren\u2019t too keen on<\/a>\u00a0in customer-facing roles.<\/p>\n

She went on: \u201cI asked her if it was about my tattoos, obviously \u2019cause I know a lot of places don\u2019t like tattoos.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said that wasn\u2019t the reason \u2013 I don\u2019t feel like that\u2019s true, but whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ash added: \u201cI hate that my tattoos are such a defining factor for me getting a job or not. Like, just because I have tattoos doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019m not going to be a good worker.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the most smart and intelligent people I\u2019ve ever met are people with tattoos and piercings.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the rest of the TikTok video that\u2019s been viewed 8.5 million times, Ash expressed concerns about how teenagers and young people are able to get jobs if places like TJ Maxx are only looking for candidates with previous experience.<\/p>\n

Ash\u2019s now-viral<\/a>\u00a0clip has definitely sparked quite the debate, with people weighing in on her situation in the comments section of her TikTok video.<\/p>\n
