An excellent example would be the egg carton.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Another brilliant idea would be to remove one tissue at a time from the box with ease.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may have pondered what makes a\u00a0<strong>\u201cbutton-down\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0different from a\u00a0<strong>\u201cbutton-up\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0in the world of fashion, but have you ever noticed the loop on the back of it?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the actual purpose of those loops on the back of your shirts?<\/h2>\n<p>Why are there excess pieces of fabric where the pleat and yoke meet in the middle of the back<\/p>\n<p>Known as\u00a0<strong>\u201clocker loops,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0they were originally seen on shirts by the menswear company GANT in the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p>Their purpose was to prevent creases on student shirts in Ivy League locker rooms.<\/p>\n<p>Later, they became increasingly significant as a prevalent aspect of Ivy League culture and a school status symbol for relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Ladies would wear the man\u2019s scarves in exchange for the men taking off the loop to indicate they were taken.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s safe to assume that since then, a few things have changed on college campuses.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman at GANT said that back then, it was a common nuisance for young women to tear loops off of blouses worn by boys they liked.<\/p>\n<p>Often, the garment would become unwearable due to a significant portion being torn from the back by tightly stitched loops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please SHARE this story with Family and Friends and let us know what you think in comments!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We don\u2019t really give common design elements much thought.
