An excessive amount of any drug can prove to be disastrous for your health, and one man learned that the hard way when it comes to ecstasy.<\/h2>\n

Being the man to have taken the most\u00a0<\/strong>ecstasy pills<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of anyone ever is not a record you want to hold.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While that might sound a bit obvious, it\u2019s not easy to quantify just how much ecstasy this unfortunate record holder has taken, and just how bad the consequences of his actions have been ever since.<\/p>\n

The man, known only as Mr. A, took roughly 40,000 tablets of ecstasy between the ages of 21 and 30. This was documented\u00a0in a 2006 study<\/a>\u00a0where Dr. Christos Kouimtsidis uncovered the effects of these extreme levels of drug use on the\u00a0brain and body long-term<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the first two years, he took five tablets every weekend,\u201d the report reads. \u200b\u201cIt escalated to an average daily use of three-and-a-half tablets for the next three years, and further to an average of 25 tablets daily over the next four years.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the uninitiated, ecstasy\u2013also known as MDMA\u2013is a hallucinogenic that has become a hard\u00a0party<\/a> drug over the past 40 years. Mr. A, who stopped taking the drug seven years prior to meeting with the doctor and taking part in the study, was struggling with various physical and mental symptoms throughout his 30s due to said drug use.<\/p>\n

In a later interview conducted by THE FACE, Dr. Kouimtsidis\u00a0explained<\/a>\u00a0further the long-term symptoms that Mr. A suffered from in the years after using ecstasy so persistently.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was extreme, his use was really, really high,\u201d the doctor recalled, \u201cand then he went into withdrawals. He was unable to move for several weeks and had tunnel vision.”<\/p>\n

As they conducted a memory test on Mr. A, researchers learned of even more unique symptoms that the patient had been going through.<\/p>\n

\u201cDisorientation to time, poor concentration, and short-term memory difficulties,\u201d were a few more symptoms Mr. A suffered from, and from there, the list keeps going on.<\/p>\n

The researchers also noted that Mr. A\u2019s concentration and attention were \u201cso impaired that he was unable to follow the sequence of the tasks required\u201d and repeatedly did the same thing over and over again.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Mr. A\u2019s fate beyond the 2006 study is unknown, as he discontinued getting help for his memory loss issues and hasn\u2019t contacted the doctor or his team ever since.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kouimtsidis explained: \u201cWe were trying to get him into a residential unit for people with memory problems.\u201d<\/p>\n
