The comedian sounded off about masculinity and gender roles<\/h2>\n

Jerry Seinfeld is not one for shying away from voicing his opinions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The comedian is known to sound off about various things in society, and now he’s picked modern masculinity as his target.<\/p>\n

His comments came in an interview with Bari Weiss on her\u00a0Honestly with Bari Weiss\u00a0<\/em>podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 70-year-old is in the middle of a promotional run for his new\u00a0Netflix\u00a0<\/a>comedy,\u00a0Unfrosted<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He has already apologised for the sexual undertones of the film, which is set in the 1960s.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on masculine men, Seinfeld said: “That’s a real man.<\/p>\n

“I want to be like that someday. No, look at how I dress \u2014 like an eight-year-old. I always wanted to be a real man, but I never made it.<\/p>\n

“I never really grew up. You don’t want to as a comedian. It’s a childish pursuit, but I miss dominant masculinity.”<\/p>\n

When toxic masculinity was raised as a counterpoint,\u00a0Seinfeld<\/a>\u00a0conceded: “Yeah, I get the toxic thing. Thank you, thank you. But still, I like a real man.”<\/p>\n

At one point in the interview, the comedian turned his praise to\u00a0Hugh Grant<\/a>, one of his co-stars in\u00a0Unfrosted.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jerry Seinfeld complimented Hugh Grant as the type of man he wanted to be (Netflix)<\/cite><\/div>\n

“He felt like one of those guys I wanted to be. He knows how to dress. He knows how to talk,” Seinfeld explained.<\/p>\n

“He’s charming. He has stories. He’s comfortable at dinner parties, knows how to get a drink. That stuff.”<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time that Seinfeld has sounded off on this most recent promotional tour.<\/p>\n

Last month, he took shots at the show\u00a0Friends<\/em>, claiming it ‘stole’ characters from his show\u00a0Seinfeld.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

During a promotional video, Seinfeld is accused of copyright infringement due to referencing ‘221 trademarked’ breakfasts in the film.<\/p>\n

When he was asked how it feels to steal characters, Seinfeld responded: “You mean like\u00a0Friends<\/em><\/a>?”<\/p>\n

He’s certainly not the first to note the similarity between the two shows.<\/p>\n

Seinfeld\u00a0<\/em>aired for a run of nine seasons on NBC between 1989 and 1998, being famously described as a ‘show about nothing’.<\/p>\n

The sitcom followed the lives of a group of friends in their day-to-day lives, ending with them all in jail.<\/p>\n

Aside from that whole jail thing, it sounds quite similar to Friends, which also followed a group of friends living in New York.<\/p>\n

However, the show, which ran from 1994 to 2004, made more use of storylines.<\/p>\n

And again, they didn’t end up in jail.<\/p>\n
