We all know that a Target run is never really as simple as we intend it to be. First, the Dollar Spot lures us in. Then the kids\u2019 clothing section, followed by the the Hearth & Hand display that makes us want to put everything in our cart. The next thing you know, you\u2019ve spent over an hour and $200 when all you\u2019d planned on was a \u201cquick\u201d trip inside.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s partly why people were so shocked at first when they saw a mom\u2019s Instagram post go viral for admitting that she\u00a0left her baby in the car while running into Target. Luckily, though, it became clear that the whole thing wasn\u2019t the act of a neglectful mom, but rather one big hilarious joke.<\/p>\n

The reel was shared in early March by influencer Bonnie Engle<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s been going viral ever since, with millions of views and more than 1,000 comments.<\/p>\n

In it, a camera does a close-up on a handwritten sign taped inside the window of a car. It reads: \u201cMy baby is OK. He has his snacks and a drink! I\u2019m in Target. Be back soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

At first read, that message is enough to make the heart stop<\/h2>\n

After all, there have been far too many upsetting stories about babies and toddlers being left inside hot cars. But luckily, this wasn\u2019t that kind of story.<\/p>\n

As the camera pans away from the handwritten window sign, we begin to see that Engle\u2019s \u201cbaby\u201d is not much of a baby at all.<\/p>\n

Instead, it\u2019s her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease no judgment,\u201d Engle\u2019s caption reads. \u201cHe is safe & well.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he sits in the driver\u2019s seat, her husband snacks on popcorn<\/h2>\n

By all accounts, he seems pretty happy to be where he is. (In other words, not trailing behind his wife in Target complaining about how long it\u2019s taking her or how much money she\u2019s spending.<\/p>\n

In the comments, people seemed relieved to learn this was all a big joke<\/h2>\n

As opposed to the alternative, which was a mom putting her baby in harm\u2019s way.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a second I was about to get really upset \u2026 I was not expecting that,\u201d one person commented.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy heart dropped and then I LMAO,\u201d added someone else.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so much easier to leave them in the car,\u201d another person said.<\/p>\n

Others could not stop laughing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m dead,\u201d wrote one mom, while another declared the video to be \u201cgenius.\u201d<\/p>\n

With 114,000 followers on Instagram, it\u2019s safe to say Engle knows her audience<\/h2>\n

She often shares humorous skits about the highs and lows of parenting, which is probably how she earned such a loyal following.<\/p>\n
