Members of the audience said that some jokes didn’t even get a ‘single laugh’ as they were left increasingly uncomfortable<\/h2>\n

Comedian Rob Schneider ended a comedy set early after making a string of offensive jokes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schneider<\/a>\u00a0had been performing at the Four Seasons Ball\u00a0fundraiser<\/a>, but attendees said his set left the audience ‘groaning’.<\/p>\n

Attendee Tynan Allan claimed that the set included\u00a0transphobic<\/a>, misogynistic, and\u00a0anti-vax<\/a>\u00a0jokes.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the comedian was asked to end the set early after the Hospitals of Regina Foundation confirmed that ‘the performance did not meet the expectations of our audience and our team.’<\/p>\n

Schneider has become notorious for his anti-vax views, which stretch back as far 2012.<\/p>\n

These include spreading the false claim that vaccines are linked to\u00a0autism<\/a>, a claim which has been repeatedly refuted.<\/p>\n

Talking to News10Sacremento in 2012, he said: “The efficacy of these shots have not been proven,<\/p>\n

“And the toxicity of these things — we’re having more and more side effects. We’re having more and more autism.”<\/p>\n

In 2023, Schneider also accused\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0influencer\u00a0Dylan Mulvaney<\/a>, who is transgender, of ‘gender appropriation’.<\/p>\n

Allan described the atmosphere in the room as Schneider did his set.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in the room was groaning, saying, \u2018What is going on?\u2019 Like, whispering to themselves,\u201d Allan\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0CBC, saying that there was ‘not a single laugh at times.’<\/p>\n

Allan added: \u201cIt was just very apparent how uncomfortable everyone felt and how unacceptable the things he was talking about were.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hospitals of Regina Foundation has since issued a public apology for the set.<\/p>\n

In a statement a spokesperson said: \u201cWhile we recognize that in a free and\u00a0democratic<\/a>\u00a0society individuals are entitled to their views and opinions and that comedy is intended to be edgy, the content, positions and opinions expressed during Mr. Schneider\u2019s set do not align with the values of our foundation and team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not condone, accept, endorse or share Mr. Schneider\u2019s positions, as expressed during his comedy set, and acknowledge that in this instance the performance did not meet the expectations of our audience and our team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The foundation also offered an an ‘unconditional apology’ to guests and its\u00a0community<\/a>\u00a0immediately following the performance.<\/p>\n

Allan said that the foundation should have checked Scheider’s background and views before booking him.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cHe\u2019s been anti-vax throughout the\u00a0pandemic<\/a>, and he\u2019s said transphobic things for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand that you\u2019re raising money, that you sometimes need to draw a crowd, but it doesn\u2019t take a lot to vet people and specifically to vet people from a values-based perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event went on to raise\u00a0$350,000<\/a>\u00a0for the foundation.<\/p>\n
