Nature is a beautiful and wonderful thing, but some nature-lovers were left with questions after a video of a Chinese waterfall went viral.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Niagara and Angel Falls, to Iceland\u2019s Gullfoss waterfall, there are hundreds of beauty spots across the globe.<\/p>\n

But how would you feel if you learn that the waterfall wasn\u2019t completely organic?<\/p>\n

Well, this is what\u2019s happened with the Yuntai Mountain Waterfall, which is situated within Yuntai Geo park in\u00a0China<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The UNESCO Global Geopark\u2019s attracts millions of annual tourists and visitors.<\/p>\n

The breathtaking 1,000-foot-high cascade (which is said to be the tallest waterfall in all of Asia) is quite the sight, but one hiker recently made an unexpected discovery.<\/p>\n

After trekking to the top of the\u00a0huge waterfall<\/a>, the hiker found a pipe seemingly feeding the so-called natural attraction.<\/p>\n

Taking to Douyin \u2013 China\u2019s alternative to\u00a0TikTok<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 one user who goes by the handle Farisvov on the video sharing site wrote alongside the now-viral<\/a> video: \u201cAbout the incident where I went to the source of Yuntai Waterfall with great difficulty but saw a water pipe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yuntai Waterfall has since been trending online, with many questioning its authenticity.<\/p>\n

With this in mind, the park have now addressed the matter after local government officials were sent to the park to investigate, BBC News\u00a0reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The park later posted on behalf of the waterfall saying: \u201cI didn\u2019t expect to meet everyone this way.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a seasonal scenery I can\u2019t guarantee that I will be in my most beautiful form every time you come to see me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a small enhancement during the dry season only so I would look my best to meet my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

The admission has divided people online, with some agreeing that adding the pipe isn\u2019t such a bad thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a good thing to do. Otherwise people would be disappointed if they end up seeing nothing there,\u201d a user on Weibo said.<\/p>\n

Another questioned if the person who posted the clip doesn\u2019t have \u2018better things to do\u2019.<\/p>\n

Someone else suggested that it is \u2018good faith effort for the scenic area to maintain the landscape during dry periods\u2019.<\/p>\n

But it has also drawn criticism.<\/p>\n

Someone said: \u201cIt\u2019s not respecting the natural order, and not respecting the tourists.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow could it be called the No.1 waterfall anymore,\u201d raged another.<\/p>\n

Reportedly this isn\u2019t the first instance of Chinese officials tampering with the countries best-loved waterfalls.<\/p>\n
