Ariana Grande has spoken out after TV network Nickelodeon was accused of sexualizing her as a child.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grande<\/a>\u00a0appeared on\u00a0Nickelodeon<\/a>\u00a0as Cat Valentine in\u00a0Victorious\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Sam & Cat<\/em>, but after a clip of her in one of the show\u2019s resurfaced\u00a0many people were left very uncomfortable<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It included several videos of Grande, who was aged 16 at the time, speaking directly to the camera.<\/p>\n

One segment saw Grande saying a \u2018sentence no-one has said before\u2019, with the first one being getting your uvula stuck between a hamster\u2019s toes.<\/p>\n

The uvula is the thing at the back of your throat, which Grande illustrated by putting her finger in the back of her throat.<\/p>\n

Other clips include her trying to squeeze juice out of a potato, putting her toes in her mouth, and lying on her back and pouring water on her chest.<\/p>\n

Many viewers were left outraged by the clips, claiming that the things Grande was doing sexualized her.<\/p>\n

One wrote: \u201cThis always makes me nauseous, imagine \u2018directing\u2019 a teenager to do that stuff as a grown man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another posted: \u201cThis is absolutely disgusting. As an adult watching this right now you can tell EXACTLY what they were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now Grande has spoken about her experiences on the show in an interview on the\u00a0Podcrushed<\/em>\u00a0podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recalling her time as a child actor, she said: \u201cWe were young performers who just wanted to do this with our lives more than anything, and we got to and that was so beautiful.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we had some very special memories, and we feel so privileged to have been able to create those roles and be a part of something that was so special for a lot of young kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande said she was \u2018upset\u2019 after rewatching the old shows. (Nickelodeon)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reflecting on her own role after the clips resurfaced online, Grande said: \u201cI don\u2019t know, I think it just all happened so quickly and now looking back on some of the clips I\u2019m like, \u2018Damn, really? Oh s**t\u2019\u2026 and the things that weren\u2019t approved for the network were snuck on to like our website or whatever\u2026 I guess I\u2019m upset, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande went on to say that children who are employed on\u00a0movie<\/a>\u00a0sets should have contracted access to\u00a0therapists<\/a>, as well as their parents being allowed to be with them at all times.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI think the environment needs to be made safer if kids are going to be acting, and I think there should be therapists.<\/p>\n
