Drea De Matteo has opened up about her decision to start an OnlyFans fans page, admitting \u2018it\u2019s about freedom\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matteo is known mainly for her performance as Adriana La Cerva in the iconic HBO\u00a0crime<\/a>\u00a0drama\u00a0The Sopranos<\/em>.<\/p>\n

But since leaving the show\u00a0Matteo<\/a>\u00a0has hit out at\u00a0Hollywood<\/a>, calling it a \u2018cesspool\u2019 \u2013 a stance she has stood by since.<\/p>\n

In a clip from\u00a0TMZ Presents Famous & Naked<\/em>\u00a0released on Monday Matteo reiterated her stance on the\u00a0film and TV<\/a>\u00a0industry.<\/p>\n

She also claimed that starting an\u00a0OnlyFans<\/a>\u00a0page has allowed her to be more of her own boss.<\/p>\n

Explaining her decision in the clip, she said: \u201cHollywood the actual industry itself, there\u2019s a lot of shifty s*** that goes on in Hollywood and we all know that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about freedom and I don\u2019t have to answer to f*cking anybody right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matteo has been clear about why she decided to join the platform since the beginning, explaining that acting work had dried up and she had been at risk of losing her home.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cWhy did I join OnlyFans? When we launched we had \u2013 I would say \u2013 a couple hundred bucks left in the bank. I\u2019m not kidding. My house was going into for foreclosure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor and model candidly admitted that she had made the decision \u2018out of desperation\u2019, saying: \u201cDid I do it out of desperation? F*ck yes I did. Did I think it would empower me just to be on OnlyFans?<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, that wasn\u2019t the f*cking point you know it empowered me to take care of my f*cking family. So the negativity that came with it, bring it the f*ck on.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to reiterate her views about Hollywood, saying: \u201cI mean, that place [Hollywood] is a freaking cesspool. I\u2019m not gonna lie. TV sucks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing great.\u00a0Sopranos<\/em>\u00a0opened the door for [me] 100 per cent.\u201d<\/p>\n

But would Matteo ever entertain the prospect of returning to a role in film and TV?<\/p>\n

Despite her criticism it appears that\u2019s still not entirely off the table for her, though with some big caveats.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cIt would have to really be something that was meaningful to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t need to just jump on just to get a paycheck even though I had literally $10 left in my bank account when all this was happening, which is why I started the OnlyFans page.<\/p>\n
