A gamer has been accused of flying across the country to confront an online rival in the middle of the night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Edward Kang, 20, took an overnight\u00a0flight<\/a>\u00a0from New Jersey to\u00a0Florida<\/a>\u00a0on Friday (21 June), before trying to attack his rival in the middle of the night, according to police reports.<\/p>\n

Kang flew from Newark Liberty International Airport to Jacksonville International Airport, before arriving at the victim’s house in the early hours of Sunday morning, swinging a hammer he had picked up at a hardware store.<\/p>\n

Police<\/a>\u00a0say that Kang became angry after playing the\u00a0game<\/a>\u00a0ArcheAge.<\/p>\n

He apparently told his mom he was going to visit a friend in Florida before taking the flight and checking into a hotel.<\/p>\n

On the Saturday (22 June), he visited a hardware store to buy a hammer and a flashlight, before sneaking to the victim’s property in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n

Kang was reportedly dressed in black, with a mask and gloves as he approached the property in Fernandina Beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a weird one,\u201d Sheriff Bill Leeper said to reporters on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome things make you say ‘hmm’. Some things you just can\u2019t make up.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some things that make you say, \u2018What in the world was he thinking?\u2019 And there are some things that make you say, \u2018You\u2019re not gonna believe this.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, this case makes you say all four of those.”<\/p>\n

Police were called after the victim’s stepfather was awoken by his stepson screaming for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim\u2019s stepfather reported being awakened by screams for help,\u201d said Leeper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he went to see what was going on he found his stepson on the ground struggling with the attacker, who was in possession of a hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The victim and his stepdad restrained Kang until cops arrived at the property, where they found a ‘significant amount of blood’ in the hallway.<\/p>\n

Although suffering from severe head injuries, the victim’s condition is not said to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Kang meanwhile, is facing attempted murder and burglary charges and is being held at the Nassau County Jail.<\/p>\n
