Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s 2022 defamation trial capture the attention of the world<\/h2>\n

Johnny Depp\u2019s attorney made sure that Amber Heard knew why he refused to look her in the eye during their trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The infamous defamation case between\u00a0Depp<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Heard<\/a>\u00a0captured the attention of the world in 2022, with hundreds of thousands of people tuning in everyday to watch it being live streamed.<\/p>\n

Now, almost two years after Depp secured a win against his ex-wife, curious viewers can relive the whole trial through a\u00a0Netflix documentary<\/a>\u00a0– titled\u00a0Depp v. Heard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Depp sued Heard for\u00a0$50 million<\/a>\u00a0over a 2018 article she wrote in the Washington Post, titled: \u201cI spoke up against sexual violence – and faced our culture\u2019s wrath. That has to change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Depp not being directly named in the piece, his lawyers claimed it falsely implied he abused Heard while they were together.<\/p>\n

Throughout the trial, Heard also accused Depp of abuse during their\u00a0relationship<\/a>\u00a0– but the\u00a0Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em>\u00a0actor took an interesting approach while Heard was giving evidence.<\/p>\n

During Heard’s cross examination by Depp\u2019s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, she was asked why she thought he hadn\u2019t looked at her at all.<\/p>\n

In court, Vasquez said: \u201cMr. Depp hasn’t looked at you once this entire trial, has he?\u201d<\/p>\n

To which Heard responded: \u201cNot that I’ve noticed, no.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou’ve looked at him many times, haven’t you?\u201d Vasquez continued.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Aquaman<\/em>\u00a0star replied: \u201cYes, I have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the lack of eye contact appearing \u2018concerning\u2019 to some spectators – perhaps implying some sort of guilt – there was actually a deep-rooted reason why Depp refused to look at Heard during the trial.<\/p>\n

Vasquez cleared this up by saying: \u201cYou know exactly why Mr. Depp won’t look back at you, don’t you?<\/p>\n

Heard played this off as if she had no idea, but a recording between the ex-couple appeared to reveal otherwise.<\/p>\n

Vasquez played a clip from their last meeting in 2016 in which Depp could be heard saying: \u201cWe won’t have to see each other again.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will not see my eyes again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heard stood her ground that Depp \u2018couldn\u2019t\u2019 look at her rather than \u2018wouldn\u2019t\u2019.<\/p>\n

She said: “As far as I know, he cannot look at me.”<\/p>\n

To which Vasquez responded: “He won’t look at you, right Ms. Heard?”<\/p>\n

Though Heard claimed: \u201cHe can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

After six weeks, the trial finally concluded when the jury sided with Depp and ordered Heard to pay him $15 million in damages.<\/p>\n
