Actor Kevin Costner put a lot of money into his latest movie<\/h2>\n

Kevin Costner could potentially lose his home after his recent movie flopped at the box office.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Yellowstone\u00a0<\/em>star partially self-funded his new\u00a0movie<\/a>\u00a0Horizon: An American Saga<\/em>\u00a0after waiting decades to make – it was first commissioned back in 1988.<\/p>\n

There are four\u00a0Horizon\u00a0<\/em>films planned, with Costner starring and directing them.<\/p>\n

His 15-year-old son Hayes<\/a>\u00a0also stars in the movie alongside the likes of Sienna Miller and\u00a0Stranger Things’<\/em><\/a>\u00a0Jamie Campbell Bower.<\/p>\n

Chapter Two\u00a0<\/em>is set to be released in just a few weeks time.<\/p>\n

While Costner has a pretty stellar career behind him, he struggled to get funding for\u00a0Horizon\u00a0<\/em>and ultimately put in a whopping $38 million of his own\u00a0cash<\/a>\u00a0into making the film series.<\/p>\n

Evidently a passion project for the 69-year-old, Costner previously admitted that he’s ‘not a very good businessman’.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve mortgaged 10 acres on the water in Santa Barbara where I was going to build my last house,” he\u00a0admitted<\/a>\u00a0to Deadline last year.<\/p>\n

“But I did it without a thought. It has thrown my accountant into a f**king conniption fit. But it\u2019s my life, and I believe in the idea and the story.”<\/p>\n

Doubling down on his confidence in the film, Costner also told the outlet about putting his home on the line for\u00a0Horizon<\/em>‘s creation: “At the end of the day, I\u2019m a storyteller, and I went ahead and put my own money into it. I\u2019m not a very good businessman, so, scratch your head, if you will. I don\u2019t know why, but I have not let go of this one.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve pushed it into the middle of the table three times in my career and didn\u2019t blink. This is my fourth. And probably one of the few people in the world I could talk with about this would be with Francis.”<\/p>\n

But in the wake of\u00a0Horizon\u00a0<\/em>hitting cinemas on June 28, it seems as if Costner’s confidence in the flick might have been misplaced.<\/p>\n

The movie has opened at the box office with just $11 million – a far cry from its $100 million budget.<\/p>\n

Roughly a million people went out to watch it, The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0says<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In comparison,\u00a0<\/em>Inside Out 2<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0A Quiet Place: Day One<\/em>\u00a0brought in five million and 3.6 million viewers retrospectively.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Horizon<\/em>‘s disappointing opening figures in mind, the money Costner put into the film hangs in the balance – his 10-acre home included.<\/p>\n
