A Tesla driver has left other drivers green with envy after revealing how much money he’s saved paying for electricity opposed to fuel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While fuel-running car owners have been able to snigger at those who leapt to buy a Cybertruck after the majority of the vehicles were\u00a0recalled for the fourth time over a major fault<\/a>, one Tesla driver has ultimately had the last laugh.<\/p>\n

While many continue to debate whether or not to switch from\u00a0cars<\/a>\u00a0which run on fuel to those which rely on electricity, one driver has already made the switch and has been reaping the benefits.<\/p>\n

Tesla<\/a>\u00a0driver Bilal Sattar took to\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0on 18 January to share his stats comparing how much it would’ve cost to run a car on fuel versus on electricity and subsequently just how much\u00a0money\u00a0<\/a>he’s saved in the last six months.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0wrote<\/a>: “Six months and roughly 10k miles I’ve spent only $573 to charge. An equivalent gas car at $4\/gallon would have cost roughly $2400.”<\/p>\n

So, in total, Sattar saved a whopping $1,800.<\/p>\n

The screenshot he shared came from the Tesla app which offers a handy comparison between electric and fuel. Admittedly, this is a great way to ensure that new Tesla owners don\u2019t get cold feet and consider switching back.<\/p>\n

However, despite what it might appear, it isn\u2019t as simple as electric charges costing less than fuel.<\/p>\n

No, no, that would be a little too convenient.<\/p>\n

Sattar himself gave the game away by explaining that he takes full advantage of any location that offer free charging.<\/p>\n

Free chargers are rare and are often only in areas that are piloting new charging locations.<\/p>\n

But while this is smart thinking, Sattar also has another key to his success.<\/p>\n

A few months ago on his Twitter feed he shared an electric bill that shows he actually put wattage into the grid rather than taking it out.<\/p>\n

There’s only really one way to do that for most people – solar panels. Lining your home with solar panels has long been a tactic for saving but it is only in the last few years that we have had the ingenuity to use that same energy to charge our electric vehicles.<\/p>\n

Sattar could very much be a great ambassador of some of the possible benefits of using solar panels for your home, driving an electric vehicle and utilizing all free charging ports.<\/p>\n
