Josephine Chaplin, actress and daughter of silent film legend Charlie Chaplin, passed away at the age of 74 on July 13, People has confirmed.<\/p>\n

A statement from Chaplin\u2019s estate shared: \u201cShe passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

It continued: \u201cFor years, Josephine managed the Chaplin Office in Paris on behalf of her siblings until she took leave to care for her husband Jean-Claude Gardin.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, the cause of Josephine\u2019s death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

A funeral service was held in her honor at P\u00e8re Lachaise on Friday afternoon (July 21).<\/p>\n

Josephine was one of the eight children of Charlie Chaplin and his fourth wife, Oona O\u2019Neill. Throughout his life, Chaplin became a father to a total of 11 children to three of his wives. Prior to O\u2019Neill, the renowned English comic was also married to Mildred Harris, Paulette Goddard, and Lita Grey.<\/p>\n

Following in her father\u2019s footsteps, Josephine embarked on her own acting career and appeared alongside him in Limelight, a film that was also written and directed by Chaplin.<\/p>\n
