{"id":1413,"date":"2023-07-25T21:16:56","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T21:16:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/used82.com\/?p=1413"},"modified":"2023-07-25T21:16:56","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T21:16:56","slug":"what-a-beast-huge-snake-found-by-hiker-near-south-carolina-creek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/used82.com\/?p=1413","title":{"rendered":"\u2018What A Beast!\u2019 Huge Snake Found By Hiker Near South Carolina Creek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An enormous snake was recently sighted by a hiker at Florence\u2019s Jeffries Creek Park.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p>If Indiana Jones had seen this he would most certainly have turned around quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Meredith Langley gushed about the snake-like object she had just seen in a Facebook post she shared with the South Carolina Hiking club.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-299\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB1-2.png?resize=296%2C300\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB1-2.png?resize=296%2C300&amp;ssl=1 296w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB1-2.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB1-2.png?w=467&amp;ssl=1 467w\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t escape Langley\u2019s attention how perfectly the snake mixed in with its natural habitat.<\/p>\n<p>In her post, Langley wrote: \u201cThis was a good teaching opportunity and example for my own kids who forget not to run ahead of me on trails!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A brown water snake (Nerodia genus), which is not deadly, was recognized as such by Greg Lucas, a biologist with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-300\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB2-2.png?resize=300%2C233\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB2-2.png?resize=300%2C233&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/fecoya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BB2-2.png?w=520&amp;ssl=1 520w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Because of their thick, muscular bodies, the water snakes Lucas described appear larger than they actually are. According to him, water snakes grow to their full size between 30 and 60 inches.<\/p>\n<p>Langley claimed that on their weekly hikes in the area, she and her children come with copperhead snakes. Water snakes and water moccasins are common in the area, she added.<\/p>\n<p>The snake Langley saw was at least four feet long when fully extended, according to her calculations.
