A Nashville waitress claims she was paid just $0.01 for six weeks’ worth of work and TikTokers are divided<\/h2>\n

A waitress has revealed she allegedly made just one cent for six weeks of work sharing her pay check to TikTok.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s become pretty apparent servers in\u00a0the US<\/a>\u00a0often rely on tips in order to take any sort of decent wad of\u00a0cash<\/a>\u00a0home with them after each shift. However, one\u00a0TikToker’s<\/a>\u00a0paycheck after six weeks really shows how crucial tips can be.<\/p>\n

If you thought the debate around\u00a0tipping<\/a>\u00a0culture had died down, I’m sorry to say it’s still very much ongoing.<\/p>\n

TikToker Liny from Nashville took to her platform –\u00a0@lvndsmac<\/a>\u00a0– to reveal a particularly stark picture for her role as a\u00a0waitress<\/a>, saying she was paid just one cent for six weeks\u2019 worth of work.<\/p>\n

“Life as a server… This is six weeks of \u2018pay\u2019,\u201d she wrote. “TIP YOUR SERVERS!!!”<\/p>\n

In the caption, she added: “THE F**K IMA DO WITH ONE PENNY STEVEN!!!!!!!”<\/p>\n

In the video, which was originally posted in 2021, she zoomed in on a recent payslip, which said she had been paid a total of $0.01.<\/p>\n

Liny did not name her employer in the video, nor did she reveal how much she may have made in tips during that period.<\/p>\n

Liny called on people to tip their servers (TikTok\/ @lvndsmac)<\/cite><\/div>\n

The post attracted\u00a01.9 million views<\/a>\u00a0and more than 112,000 likes \u2013 along with thousands of comments from fellow TikTok users \u2013 some of whom didn\u2019t seem all that sympathetic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not my job to pay your bills I got my own to pay,\u201d one wrote bluntly, with another agreeing: \u201cI always tip, but restaurants need to pay you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone else agreed: \u201cTake it up with your employer. It\u2019s not the customers responsibility to pay your wage.\u201d<\/p>\n

While a fourth said: \u201cBlame the business you\u2019re working for, not the consumers. In other countries, they don\u2019t need to tip because they pay a living wage. I\u2019m already paying overpriced prices for mediocre food. I shouldn\u2019t also have to pay out of my pocket for your salary.\u201d<\/p>\n

When someone suggested a \u2018career change\u2019 was in order, Liny replied: \u201cLmaoooo chill y\u2019all. I just finished school give me a break.\u201d<\/p>\n

But others felt for Liny\u2019s predicament, with one writing: \u201cHalf the people in this comment section are the ones who get mad when restaurants are understaffed. Who\u2019s gonna serve your food and take care of you when they all quit bc they don\u2019t get paid what they should and some people feel too entitled to tip. Get your own job in the industry and see how it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone else commented: \u201cDo not eat out if you aren\u2019t willing to tip. That simple.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third added: \u201cEating out is an experience. You\u2019re not tipping your server for bringing out a plate, you\u2019re tipping your server for top notch service.\u201d<\/p>\n
