Apparently, the former heavyweight champion had a promotional deal with Medier, a Cyprus-registered company that promotes online casino and betting company Rabona, but\u00a0Tyson<\/a>\u00a0is said to have failed to hold up his end on the bargain in favor of fighting\u00a0Jake Paul<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the suit, which was filed in\u00a0London<\/a>\u00a0in October, Medier say Tyson and his company Tyrannic terminated the January agreement they’d made on the day the Netflix special was announced in March.<\/p>\n It was alleged that Medier breached the agreement, which lead to Tyson ending it.<\/p>\n The gambling company has denied any wrongdoing though, and said that its actions did not constitute a breach of the deal, USA Today\u00a0reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n Medier claim that Tyson’s actions have cost it around\u00a01.46 million euros<\/a>\u00a0($1.59 million).<\/p>\n “The true reason for Mr Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr Tyson had agreed a deal, sponsored by\u00a0Netflix<\/a>, to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” the company’s lawyer said in documents made public on Friday (December 6).<\/p>\n Mike Tyson is being sued for almost $1.6 million (Brett Carlsen\/Getty Images for Netflix \u00a9 2024)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n It isn’t thought that Tyson and Tyrannic have yet filed a defence to the lawsuit, but Tyson\u2019s representatives have released a statement to The New York Post.<\/p>\n “It is the company\u2019s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways,” it\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/p>\n “As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional reputational harm to the Tyson brand.”<\/p>\n The suit against Tyson was filed in London in October (Stephen McCarthy\/Sportsfile via Getty Images)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Tyson and Jake Paul went head-to-head on November 16, with the YouTuber-turned-boxer proving victorious against the\u00a0boxing<\/a>\u00a0legend.<\/p>\n The eight-round fight, which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas and was streamed on Netflix, was scored 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of Paul.<\/p>\n Despite the defeat, Tyson, 58, said he’s not opposed to returning to the ring.<\/p>\n Speaking to Netflix after the bout, Tyson left the window open for future fights.<\/p>\n Asked if it was the last time he would be seen in a ring, Tyson said: “I don\u2019t know.
