The actor began rereading the Bible and other religious texts in 1990 as he made his way back to sobriety, according to People.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s when I started developing a personal relationship,\u201d Quaid noted. \u201cBefore that, I didn\u2019t have one, even though I grew up as a Christian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actor also wrote the song, \u201cOn My Way to Heaven,\u201d to show his mother that he was back on track and doing okay. Then they\u2019re fun, and then they\u2019re fun with problems, and then they\u2019re just problems after a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s really what we\u2019re looking for, the joy of life, which is our gift, actually, the relationship with God that we all have.
