Bill Gates issued a warning about the future of AI<\/h2>\n

Bill Gates has detailed an unnerving warning about the future of artificial intelligence, or more commonly known as AI.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With advancements in\u00a0technology<\/a>\u00a0and the rise in\u00a0AI<\/a>, there is a mixture of excitement but also nerves as to where AI could be in say 20 years time.<\/p>\n

Many famous figures have spoken about AI, as people like\u00a0Elon Musk<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0already using it within his businesses<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Microsoft<\/a>\u00a0founder\u00a0Gates<\/a>\u00a0is a figure who has been less enthusiastic about developments in AI, and has previously discussed his concerns.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the\u00a0Jimmy Fallon Show<\/em>\u00a0on Tuesday (February 4), the 69-year-old said: “The era that we’re just starting is that intelligence is rare, you know, a great doctor, a great teacher. And with AI, over the next decade, that will become free and commonplace. Great medical advice, great tutoring.”<\/p>\n

Gates<\/a>\u00a0added: “And it’s profound because it solves all these specific problems, like we don’t have enough doctors or mental health professionals, but it brings with it so much change.”<\/p>\n

The traditional 9-5, five days a week has been a thing in the US for as long as anyone can remember, but Gates has raised the prospect it may all change because of AI.<\/p>\n

But surely that’s a good thing? I mean, I’m not complaining about a three-day weekend.<\/p>\n

Gates added: “Should we just work two or three days a week? So I love the way it’ll drive innovation forward, but I think it’s a little bit unknown if we’ll be able to shape it.<\/p>\n

“Legitimately, people are like ‘wow, this is a bit scary’. It’s completely new territory.”<\/p>\n

Gates has previously explained in an interview with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert\u00a0podcast<\/a>, where he said AI won\u2019t magically solve problems that humans aren\u2019t already good at.<\/p>\n

The Microsoft founder explained how he uses AI himself and said: “I’m using it all the time and saying, ‘Okay, no, it’s not good enough for this \u2014 but wow, it is good enough for that.’<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it’s a problem that humans are not good at dealing with, then present techniques don’t create some novel approach.”<\/p>\n

The tech mogul also argued that many AI programs can get things wrong.<\/p>\n

“It doesn’t know to check its answers,” he said.<\/p>\n

“A Sudoku puzzle, you have to do a lot of recursive reasoning and it doesn’t know to take extra time.”<\/p>\n
