Some think the US President ‘should be shunned’ for his comments…<\/h2>\n

Donald Trump just couldn’t help himself while speaking to media in Washington just before leaving for Pope Francis’ funeral.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The funeral proceedings of\u00a0Pope Francis<\/a>\u00a0commenced earlier today (April 26), five days after his passing on April 21.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of thousands have flocked to St Peter’s Square in Vatican City to pay their respects to the late\u00a0religious<\/a>\u00a0leader.<\/p>\n

Among them includes\u00a0world<\/a>\u00a0leaders US President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister of the\u00a0UK<\/a>\u00a0Keir Starmer and Prince William.<\/p>\n

Trump may’ve secured a\u00a0better than ‘third-tier’ seat<\/a>\u00a0in the end at the proceedings, but the POTUS has found himself called out on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0for comments he made in\u00a0Washington<\/a> ahead of the big day.<\/p>\n

Prior to leaving Washington yesterday, Trump said of Francis: “[He] loved the world, actually, and he was just a good man. I thought he was a fantastic kind of a guy.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

However, he then went on to discuss how the funeral would also see him able to ‘meet with a lot’ of other world leaders.<\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0MSNBC: “It’s going to be very interesting. We’re going to meet with a lot of the foreign leaders, they want to meet.<\/p>\n

“Trade deals are going very well. I think Russia and Ukraine, I think they are coming along, we hope, very fragile. And Iran I think is going very well. We’ll see what happens. We’re working on plenty of things.”<\/p>\n

A\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0user responded: “My goodness. Please tell me Donald Trump isn\u2019t going to try to work trade deals at Pope Francis\u2019s funeral.”<\/p>\n

“Disrespectful,” another added.<\/p>\n

A third commented: “He should be shunned.”<\/p>\n

And it’s not the only reason Trump has come under fire surrounding the Pope’s funeral either.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0showing up in a blue suit\u00a0<\/a>– opposed to the traditional symbol of mourning and respect, black – Trump found himself similarly slammed online.<\/p>\n

One Twitter user wrote: “Trump the only world leader without the respect to wear black at Pope Francis funeral. He\u2019s a disgrace to America and the world. God bless Pope Francis.”<\/p>\n

“What is it with Trump that he did not even have the decency to wear a black tie, never mind he wore a blue suit,” a second commented.<\/p>\n

A third added: “Look at our tone deaf, idiot President Trump wearing blue at Pope Francis funeral. Not a day goes by that this makeup covered moron doesn’t embarrass us on the world stage.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
