During takeoff, contact with the aircraft was also lost. Air India soon confirmed that their Boeing 787-8 with flight number AI171 was involved.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the airline also revealed the tragic news that there was only one survivor.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft crashed shortly after take-off. We regret to inform you that out of the 242 people on board, 241 are confirmed dead. The sole survivor is being treated in a hospital. The passengers consisted of 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, and 1 Canadian national.<\/p>\n<p>The only survivor is a British citizen, 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.
