Keep reading to learn more about what these parents did for their daughter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-one-of-the-20-000\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">One of the 20,000<\/h2>\n<p>When baby Vienna Brookshaw entered the world in April 2021, her mom, Celine Casey, was overjoyed \u2014 until she spotted something unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>Born in the U.K., Vienna had a prominent dark mark between her eyebrows. Celine\u2019s heart sank. Had something gone wrong during pregnancy?<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, doctors reassured her the birthmark was harmless. It\u2019s caused by a cluster of pigment cells that form before birth and typically grow as the child gets older.<\/p>\n<p>Although not dangerous, the placement of the birthmark meant Vienna would face curious stares, awkward questions, and possibly unkind comments \u2014 especially from strangers who don\u2019t think before they speak.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when her parents made a life-changing decision.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-vienna-s-condition\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vienna\u2019s condition<\/h2>\n<p>The condition is rare and there was no way for anyone to tell how much the birthmark would grow as the little girl grew. Her mother was sure that she did not want her daughter to deal with that as she grew up.<\/p>\n<p>Casey immediately asked doctors what could be done for her daughter\u2019s birthmark. She said that she felt that if she did not get her daughter\u2019s birthmark removed, she might resent her parents in the future.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-1\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CejRsNUoYh0\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=800&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fen.newsner.com&amp;rp=%2Ffamily%2Fparents-hid-their-baby-to-protect-her-from-stares-now-at-2-years-old-she-looks-gorgeous%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwY2xjawK6Vh9leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFoeDRjcFVrUGdETjZ6YzNMAR4Zi2XR0pTnbg3X9X3suWQwQ4SeX8kdYDMQz4#%7B%22ci%22%3A1%2C%22os%22%3A1931.199999999255%7D\" height=\"1202\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-1\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The concerned mother\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.amomama.com\/420320-parents-hid-babys-face-to-shield-her-1.html?native&amp;fbclid=IwAR108C8EiGH8vr6_FXJTcpSVGsWDWPJpIYa6wthYJeGakM9rW-TPBIsGq2c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a>, \u201cWe love seeing her grow on her journey, and we can\u2019t wait for the day that she does grow up and can speak for herself so we can hear her opinion, we\u2019d love her no matter what, even if we did keep the birthmark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reason for her ambition was that when their daughter was an infant, Casey, and her partner had already noticed that people were staring at her. She also saw that her baby was being treated differently than other babies and, hence, was even more motivated to get the birthmark removed.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery was denied by the NHS and the mother had to find alternate sources for help. So, she began a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for having the surgery done privately.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-denied-surgery\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Denied surgery<\/h2>\n<p>The NHS denied the surgery as they usually deny any surgeries that are not essential for a person\u2019s physical health. They considered the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/surgery\/\">surgery<\/a>\u00a0cosmetic not crucial.<\/p>\n<p>In just 24 hours, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/parents\/\">parents<\/a>\u00a0raised $52,000 for the surgery. Unfortunately, this amount was not enough as hospital costs had skyrocketed after the COVID-19 pandemic and the young parents needed $27,000 for the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>They turned to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/viennas-facial-surgical-procedures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0again to help with the added costs for their daughter\u2019s birthmark removal surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has things they\u2019re insecure about on their body, and the doctor said he\u2019d respect that, but with Vienna, it wasn\u2019t going to affect her mental health right now. But we didn\u2019t see it as that, she\u2019s going to start school when she\u2019s three, and younger kids are so smart, they point out stuff like that,\u201d the worried mother reasoned.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the little girl is three years old, and her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/birthmark\/\">birthmark<\/a>\u00a0has been entirely removed, the only evidence of it being a tiny scar on her forehead.
