The boss wondered why one of his most valued employees was absent but had not phoned in sick one day.
\nNeeding to have an urgent problem with one of the main computers resolved, he dialed the employee\u2019s home phone number and was greeted with a child\u2019s whisper.<\/p>\n
\u201cHello?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIs your daddy home?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes,\u201d whispered the small voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cMay I speak with him?\u201d<\/p>\n
The child whispered, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, \u201cIs your Mommy there?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMay I speak with her?\u201d<\/p>\n
Again the small voice whispered, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, \u201cIs anybody else there?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes,\u201d whispered the child, \u201ca policeman.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee\u2019s home, the boss asked, \u201cMay I speak with the policeman?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, he\u2019s busy,\u201d whispered the child.<\/p>\n
\u201cBusy doing what?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTalking to Daddy and Mommy and the fireman,\u201d came the whispered answer.<\/p>\n
Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, \u201cWhat is that noise?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA helicopter,\u201d answered the whispering voice.\u201dWhat is going on there?\u201d demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.<\/p>\n
Again, whispering, the child answered, \u201cThe search team just landed a helicopter.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, \u201cWhat are they searching for?\u201d<\/p>\n
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle\u2026 \u201cME.\u201d<\/p>\n
