John Goodman has undergone an incredible weight loss journey in the last 20 years. The actor, known for films such as\u00a0The Big Lebowski<\/em>\u00a0and TV series\u00a0Roseanne<\/em>, decided enough was enough after getting sober in 2007, and today, he has lost almost 200 pounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Goodman<\/a>\u00a0appeared on the premiere of the new\u00a0Smurf<\/em>\u00a0movie on Wednesday, showcasing his new, light-hearted style. However, on social media, fans now fear for his health rather than praising his weight loss.<\/p>\n

Throughout his life and career, John Goodman has struggled with his weight. His all-time highest weight was almost 400 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d get off of\u00a0Roseanne<\/em>\u00a0every spring. I\u2019d lose 60 pounds every spring,\u201d he told David Letterman in 2011. \u201cI\u2019d gain it back and then some, every year. It\u2019s going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following a stint in rehab for his drinking problem in 2007, Goodman decided it was time for a change. He hired fitness guru and personal trainer Mackie Shilstone, who had previously worked with tennis star Serena Williams.<\/p>\n

Soon, he was on a path toward a healthier life. Goodman adhered to a diet rich in Mediterranean foods, including\u00a0fish, nuts, olive oil, vegetables, and fruit, and exercised five to six times a week.<\/p>\n

Following his dedication towards a new diet and working out, in 2010, Goodman had\u00a0lost over 100 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis didn\u2019t happen overnight \u2014 it\u2019s been an ongoing process,\u201d Shilstone told\u00a0the New York Post<\/a>. There needs to be strategic planning. This time, he really wanted to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just stopped eating all the time,\u201d Goodman told\u00a0ABC<\/a>\u00a0in 2016. \u201cI\u2019d have a handful of food, and it\u2019d go to my mouth. I was just eating alcoholically. In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack of Bud or whatever and just go back to my old habits.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u2019m getting to the age where I can\u2019t afford to sit still anymore. I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You\u2019re shaving in the mirror and you don\u2019t want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

John Goodman continued to dedicate himself to a new, healthier life. In 2023, he told Rolling Stone Magazine that he had lost 200 pounds and had found a passion for boxing. He said, \u201cIt\u2019s usually just an hour, hour and a half of hitting the mitts, hitting the bags, learning footwork. It\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n

John Goodman was hospitalized after movie set accident<\/h2>\n

John Goodman has not only maintained a healthy lifestyle but also remained a Hollywood star. The now 73-year-old has maintained a steady flow of work over the last decade, both as an in-person actor and as a voice actor in animated movies.<\/p>\n

Sadly, earlier his year, he was in an accident on set and had to be taken to the hospital. In an interview with\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u00a0on July 11, Goodman said it was a \u201creal accident \u201cin which he injured his hip.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had been working on the scene for a week and a half. I wasn\u2019t quite getting it right, and through a process, I finally made a breakthrough. But after that, we were blocking it, and I was wearing stocking feet, like I had been for the last week and a half. I was passing Tom, and my legs just went on the floor, and I came up parallel to the ground and landed on my hip. I tried to get back up, and when I couldn\u2019t do that, I started fearing the worst. I didn\u2019t know I had fractured it until we got X-rays,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

John Goodman continued, \u201cThere was a brilliant doctor on set, and he got me into the Cleveland Clinic [in London]. They operated the next morning, and so far, so good. Unfortunately, I was down for about a month there where I couldn\u2019t do anything, and it was driving me nuts. They found other things to do, and I finally got back into it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, the actor is back on his feet, and as of late, he has appeared with his voice in the new\u00a0Smurfs<\/em>\u00a0movie. On July 13, Goodman appeared at the\u00a0Smurfs<\/em>\u00a0premiere in Los Angeles, where he showed off even more significant weight loss. However, this time, fans were not only impressed but also worried.<\/p>\n

Fans took to social media to share their concerns for John Goodman, with one person saying, \u201cHe looks terribly gaunt. Not good,\u201d with another saying, \u201cHe looks horrible now.<\/p>\n

A third person wrote, \u201cUnfortunately, when you lose a significant amount of weight in middle adulthood, you look unhealthy as your skin doesn\u2019t have the collagen it needs to prevent sagging skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others questioned whether John Goodman had been taking the weight-loss drug Ozempic. Still, many praised the star for his fantastic effort in losing 200 pounds.<\/p>\n
