The political career of JD Vance is an astounding one, to say the least. However, before he got into politics, he first rose to fame with his memoir\u00a0Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis<\/em>\u00a0in 2016.<\/p>\n

Before becoming the Vice President of the US, he served in the military and had a short stint as a venture capitalist.<\/p>\n

However, his life hasn\u2019t always been an easy one. On the contrary, he experienced hardship from the moment his parents divorced and his mother started expressing violent tendencies.<\/p>\n

Luckily, he had his half-sister, Lindsay by his side.<\/p>\n

Following an incident during which their mother threatened to crash their car and kill both her children, Vance and his sister got adopted by their grandparents.<\/p>\n

When Lindsay started her own family and moved, it was extremely hard for Vance, but he never blamed her, because she was still his support.<\/p>\n

Eventually, he started hanging out with the wrong people who were involved with using drugs, but it was his grandmother who talked some sense into him. Vance said it was a moment he\u2019d never forget.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe actually told me in a very menacing voice, \u2018Look, JD, I\u2019ll give you a choice. You can either stop hanging out with these kids, or I\u2019ll run them over with my car. And trust me, no one will ever find out,\u2019\u201d Vance told\u00a0NPR<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

After graduating from Middletown High School in 2003, Vance spent four years in the Marine Corps, serving as a combat correspondent in Iraq in 2005.<\/h3>\n

Retired Maj. Shawn Haney, JD Vance\u2019s officer in charge at Cherry Point, North Carolina, told\u00a0CNN<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that he and the rest of the marines knew Vance \u201cwould run for office one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe always did a great job where he was, but always looked forward to the next thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling the four years with the Marine Corps, Vance wrote in his memoir, \u201cWhen I joined the Marine Corps, I did so in part because I wasn\u2019t ready for adulthood. I didn\u2019t know how to balance a checkbook, much less how to complete the financial aid forms for college.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt was the Marine Corps that first gave me an opportunity to truly fail, made me take that opportunity, and then, when I did fail, gave me another chance anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once back to the Marine Corps Airfield in Cherry Point, North Carolina, Vance got the opportunity to become a media relations officer, considered the \u201choly grail\u201d of Marine Corps public affairs with the \u201cbiggest audience and the highest stakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2009, Vance graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree\u00a0in\u00a0political science\u00a0and\u00a0philosophy from the Ohio University. Showing immense talent and hard-work, he then attended Yale Law School, where he graduated with a law degree in 2013.<\/p>\n

Today, JD Vance is the vice president of the country.<\/p>\n

At the start of his term, he experienced minor health issues.<\/h2>\n

Vance underwent a \u201clong-planned\u201d minor surgery after appearing at the Capitol earlier in the day for the Senate\u2019s swearing-in ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Vice President-elect is having long-planned, minor sinus surgery and will be back at work tomorrow,\u201d his spokesperson William Martin\u00a0told Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The surgery took place at George Washington University Hospital.<\/p>\n

Vance resumed hi duties just 24 hours later.<\/p>\n
