It was total chaos\u2026Yelling, screaming violence, domestic violence,\u201d Dr. Phil shared.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-427eab0e2180ffd6a8d95ffea2a55f03\" class=\"newsner-427eab0e2180ffd6a8d95ffea2a55f03 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-1200741802\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>Yet things would get worse before they got better for the future television host. During his teenage years, Dr. Phil experienced a level of poverty only a few others can relate to.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">READ MORE<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been homeless,\u201d Dr. Phil revealed in 2021. \u201cI\u2019ve lived on the streets of Kansas City\u2026 I\u2019ve slept in a cardboard box.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 1996, though, he met Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey was in the midst of being sued for defaming the beef industry during one of her shows, and hired Dr. Phil to provide counsel and assist her at trial. The rest, as they say, is history.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-4e6cd30f41830b71ec378f47839dc4ac\" class=\"newsner-4e6cd30f41830b71ec378f47839dc4ac newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-1119994477\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>24 Emmy nominations and years of wildly successful ratings later, and Dr. Phil has become a household name all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>His love life also fell into place when he married his wife, Robin McGraw.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually knew that first evening I sat and visited with him that he was The One,\u201d his wife told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.closerweekly.com\/posts\/who-is-dr-phil-wifes-robin-mcgraw-meet-the-stars-spouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Closer<\/a>\u00a0in an exclusive interview\u00a0back in April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe talked about our needs, and I told him that I couldn\u2019t be married in a home with conflict. My mother and father never raised their voices, and my father adored my mother, so I had to know that I was loved and adored.
