Disregarding bitter criticisms from fans, George Clooney still marvels over his wife\u00a0Amal Clooney,<\/a>\u00a0the magical and stunning woman who clinched his interest and changed his bachelor status.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEverything about my wife is sort of magical, as I think everybody has come to realize as they see her and hear her and hear what she stands for.\u201d The screen-savvy Clooney said to\u00a0Entertainment Tonight<\/a>\u00a0in 2022. \u201cThere\u2019s just\u00a0not a downside to her.\u201d<\/p>\n

George Clooney, a consummate actor and filmmaker, is known for numerous roles in television and film. Some might remember the Hollywood heartthrob as a young handyman in the popular sitcom,\u00a0The Facts of Life<\/em>, which ran from 1979-1988. In the more recent past, he can be seen in TV\u2019s\u00a0ER<\/em>, and as a leading man in movies\u00a0like O Brother, Where Art Thou?<\/em>\u00a0(2000),\u00a0Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/em>\u00a0(2001) and\u00a0Ticket to Paradise<\/em>\u00a0(2022).<\/p>\n

When he met the then-Amal Alamuddin in 2013, a stunning Lebanese-British human rights lawyer, he landed his biggest role as a life partner.<\/p>\n

Within only six months of their first date, the pair\u2019s sweeping love story continued with a proposal in 2014.<\/p>\n

Clooney, now 61, said of that moment, \u201cLiterally, I dropped it on her, and she just kept saying, \u2018Oh, my God,\u2019 and \u2018Wow!\u2019 We just sat there, and finally I said, \u2018Listen, I\u2019m 52, and I\u2019ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes, so I have to get an answer out of this or I\u2019m going to throw a hip out. In September 2014, the couple were married at the luxurious Aman Canal Grande hotel in Venice, Italy, with a star-studded guest list that included Bono, Matt Damon and Bill Murray.<\/p>\n

Tossed into the spotlight the moment she started dating Clooney, Amal became vulnerable to the unfiltered critiques of online trolls.<\/p>\n

Amal, now 45, is an internationally renowned lawyer with clients that include WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and Yulia Tymoshenko, the former prime minister of Ukraine who supported her country\u2019s integration into the European Union. In 2019, she also represented the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Overlooking her successes in favor of her fashion and physique, social media users lash out at the beauty, calling her \u201cugly\u201d and a \u201cgawky gargoyle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am completely baffled at the fact that when George Clooney finally decides to settle down he picks Amal Clooney, who looks like an ugly man,\u201d one Twitter user wrote in January 2015.<\/p>\n

In September of the same year,\u00a0ELLE Magazine<\/a>\u00a0posted a link on Twitter to the article\u00a054 Times Amal Clooney Looked Just Stunning<\/em>. Readers chimed in.<\/p>\n

One person said, \u201cShe\u2019s lovely but she has sticky icky skinny legs, shapeless sticks,\u201d while another wrote \u201cSo so thin too too thin boney old thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another defended the lawyer and added, \u201cAmal Clooney is an intelligent & accomplished lawyer!! Who cares what she wears!!\u201d<\/p>\n

And in one case, Amal\u2019s individual accomplishments were completely ignored by a major news outlet.<\/p>\n

In 2015, the\u00a0Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0was blasted for referring to Amal\u2013who at the time was representing Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy\u2013as an \u201cactor\u2019s wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Tweet read, \u201cAmal Clooney, actor\u2019s wife, representing Al-Jazeera journalist accused in Egypt of ties to extremists.\u201d<\/p>\n

People fired back at AP, driving the news outlet to revise the Tweet to, \u201cHuman rights lawyer Amal Clooney criticizes prison terms handed down to three Al-Jazeera English journalists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding on\u00a0BBC through Entertainment Tonight<\/a>, Amal tactfully said, \u201cThere\u2019s not much I can do to control it except keep going. When people criticize journalism that focuses on the wrong issues, that\u2019s heartening and that shows that people expect more from their press.\u201d<\/p>\n
