There is nothing more liberating than embracing your natural beauty \u2014 just ask Pamela Anderson.<\/p>\n

The 56-year-old actress sat down\u00a0with Vogue France\u00a0<\/a>to discuss how breaking free from conventional beauty standards has boosted her self esteem after making headlines for her\u00a0decision to stop wearing makeup.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t come to Paris Fashion Week and think: \u2018I\u2019m not going to wear any makeup,’\u201d\u00a0the \u201cBaywatch\u201d star\u00a0<\/a>explained while getting ready for the Vivienne Westwood fashion show last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething just came over me and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes and and I thought, \u2018I don\u2019t want to compete with the clothes,’\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Anderson didn\u2019t plan on going to the shows barefaced, she admitted that it has been a freeing experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s just a freedom,\u201d the blond bombshell added. \u201cIt\u2019s like a relief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now that she isn\u2019t spending hours on her hair or makeup, the actress\u2019 getting ready process is relatively nonexistent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s almost noon and the show is at one,\u201d she said, still in her bathrobe. \u201cI let my hair dry naturally and I just put on some moisturizer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou kind of have to challenge beauty sometimes,\u201d Anderson added. \u201cIf we all chase youth or we are all chasing our idea of what beauty is in fashion magazines then we are all going to be disappointed or maybe a little bit sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Anderson sometimes questions whether or not she \u201cis doing the right thing\u201d by going makeup-free, she strives to be a role model for other women to embrace their natural beauty at any age.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m happiest that I\u2019ve ever been in my own skin,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s what is inside the clothes that counts and I think beauty does come from within.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I know that that sounds clich\u00e9, but I love clich\u00e9s,\u201d the former Playboy model joked. \u201cI\u2019m so corny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only has the \u201cBarb Wire\u201d star ditched her glam team, but she also works as her own stylist.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just kinda doing this freestyle,\u201d she said while zipping herself into her own vintage Vivienne Westwood look complete with a matching floppy hat.<\/p>\n

Anderson revealed in August that she\u00a0stopped feeling the need to wear makeup\u00a0<\/a>after her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, died in 2019 from breast cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it\u2019s just better for me not to wear makeup,\u201d Anderson\u00a0told Elle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The trendsetter called her new outlook \u201cfreeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it\u2019s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone\u2019s doing,\u201d\u00a0the Gen Z style icon<\/a>\u00a0continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I\u2019m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, \u2018Wow, this is really\u2026what\u2019s happening to me?\u2019 It\u2019s a journey,\u201d Anderson admitted.<\/p>\n

Since then, Anderson has\u00a0<\/a>appeared on several magazine covers sans-makeup<\/a>\u00a0and attended multiple fashion shows with\u00a0her natural beauty on display.<\/a><\/p>\n

Her decision has also inspired many of her fans and fellow celebrities \u2014\u00a0including Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a> \u2014 to potentially follow suit.<\/p>\n

The \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once\u201d actress\u00a0praised Anderson\u2019s \u201ccourage and rebellion\u201d to put down the makeup brush in\u00a0an Instagram post<\/a>\u00a0on Monday.<\/p>\n
