During a live broadcast of \u201cThe View,\u201d Joy Behar revealed the harsh words her late father told her as a young girl, seemingly blaming him for other personal \u201ctrauma\u201d from her youth. This was in huge contrast to how the host had previously gushed over her childhood.<\/h3>\n

During an episode of\u00a0The View<\/em>, Joy Behar seemingly attempted to blame who she is psychologically on her late father, claiming that she was \u201ctraumatized\u201d when he told her that he didn\u2019t think she was pretty as a child. It all started as the ladies discussed the British singer Adele, who had publicly stated she was returning to therapy.<\/p>\n

Cohost Sunny Hostin began by discussing the merits of seeking counseling with a therapist. \u201cI\u2019m probably a lunatic,\u201d Hostin\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cAh, in general, most of the time. I\u2019ve never been to therapy but I\u2019m sure I need it. But what I don\u2019t understand, Joy\u2019s always trying to get me to agree to this thing that most of your adult behavior stems from some sort of childhood trauma. And then I think you just blame the childhood trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joy Behar was quick to correct Hostin. \u201cNo, no, no, no, no,\u201d Behar declared. \u201cIt\u2019s like if you have a wound and you put a bandaid on it, it will never heal because it doesn\u2019t get air. You\u2019ve got to air the wound,\u201d Behar added. \u201cAnd you\u2019ve got to also understand why your behavior today is your unconscious mind telling you what to do rather than your conscious mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, some of Behar\u2019s co-hosts took issue with this logic. Sara Haines pointed out that \u201cwhat\u2019s traumatic as you\u2019re developing, could be very minor to your adult self.\u201d Hostin also hit back. \u201cWhat if your sister took your cookie?\u201d she asked rhetorically. \u201cAre you going to then be a stingy person for the rest of your life because your sister took your cookie?\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Behar decided Sunny Hostin must be suffering from sibling rivalry. \u201cYou\u2019re obviously, you\u2019re in a sibling rivalry with your sister. So, work on that,\u201d Behar told Hostin. \u201cOh, you don\u2019t have a sister,\u201d Joy added, laughing. Hostin still wasn\u2019t buying the whole therapy thing, which led Behar to bring up her own father.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was a child my father said to me one time, \u2018You know, Jeannie is prettier than you,’\u201d Behar revealed as her co-hosts chimed in to voice their disapproval of his remark. \u201cYeah, that was mean,\u201d Behar said in agreement with her cohorts. \u201cHe said he was teasing \u2026 but so, that stuck with me. Like if your father doesn\u2019t think you\u2019re pretty, you don\u2019t think you\u2019re pretty,\u201d Behar lamented before emotionally exclaiming, \u201cThis is so sad!\u201d<\/p>\n
